The show's budget for that segments like that probably averaged $500* during the entire run of the program. Doing something that would risk damaging a vintage muscle car would have been out of the question. It was most likely a fake mock-up of a toilet made of foam or something so that if it did fall off, it wouldn't even scratch the paint, let alone damage the car.

*this wouldn't include the duct-tape, which was provided by 3M
