Wow, the good thing is it is headed back to Florida...

Hopefully there is someone out there somewhere that can fix this for you... I'm hoping for your sake...

Unfortunately I think we were so busy and caught up in stuff we didn't get to talk while I was home...

I'm still interested in discussing what you mentioned...

Hopefully we can this next time home...

I may take you up on that. Wire cutters are underrated...

I would give them a call to see when they are going out.

With all of the delays we kick ourselves in the butt for not getting them on already, but at this point we are going to wait until next winter.

It is time to drive it. Will race it some, but really at this point, I just want to hop in, turn the key and take the SST out for some fun...

Call me a geek, but..... keep track of your fuel mileage ok?

Gallons per mile the first few weeks?

Anxious to see what you can do on the high side eventually tho

After this much waiting it may be miles per tires! Good big piece of flat pavement and then sign SST in black rubber!

Not really SST, but I came across these pictures of the Firebird (Freebird) from September 1980... Pretty cool. The Cragar S/S 15x10 with ProTrac N50-15 tires. Competition Engineering Traction bars. You can even see the posi tag on the rearend. (4.10 gears). Muncie M-21 4 speed. Note that fender flares were the way to go back then... Also notice the CarCraft 'Crusin USA' sticker in the back window. This was the second engine I had built for it. [Edit: Just color corrected the pictures since they were so faded.. ]

A '70 400 is nice ride. 400's are tough as nails if you keep the rpm from creeping. Let the torque do the work.

Oh my gosh an evil twin... That is awesome. Cragars and all. I see those shackles on the rear leaf springs too. Can't quite see the mufflers, but I bet they weren't quiet...

Those early muscle cars were so much fun. For the first go around the Firebird had an Isky Cam, Hooker headers and Cherry Bomb glass packs. It was pretty loud. Then I switched to dual 2-1/2" pipes and stainless turbo mufflers. Sounded pretty good then.

I actually have an audio cassette of it that I used to strap in the passenger seat at the dragstrip so I could hear how much tire spin I had and I would time each gear to figure out the best shift points. Talk about a first gen data logger... Plus open headers at the track sounded badass...

That's actually a good idea!

Could you hear the tires bark over the sound of the exhaust? I ran mine out in front of the rear tires... cops hated it... I paid

On another note... this was posted in another thread, but belongs here. (No explanation needed)
