When I got my 2012, in end February, the airbag light was on, so they said they had to look into that before it can be delivered; they said it was a sensor that needed to be replaced; it hasn't come on since then. We'll see if I get the letter... :/

Contacted a second dealer who told the original dealers service department was wrong and won't affect the tune just the SDM as I suspected to begin with........ was about to flip out.

I just got my notice in the mail today, Monday. And I just got a JRE SCT X3 custom tune last Friday. JUST FIGURES. I am thinking that I would have to reprogram the car Back To Stock, then take the car in and have the SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module) reprogramed. Then put my custom tune back in the car. Does anybody know if this is correct? And does it hurt anything to be reprograming the car so many times in a short time period?
This really irritates me that I have only put 50 miles on my car since my tune, now I have to tune it back to stock so soon.

I like that news. I will ask my dealer and see what they say.

Yeah the dealership where I bought the vehicle the service manager had no idea and said he talked to a tech (but referred to the tech as kid) and had the answer in about 2 minutes. I called another local dealership I do business with and that service manager went and asked 3 different techs and all of them gave him the same answer.

Well I just got a massage from JRE. With the SCT X3 tuner, I will be returning the car back to stock before taking it to the dealer. Then when they are done reprogramming the (SDM), I will install my custom tune back into the car. No big deal.

Not entirely true:
If your Air Bag light is on and there's a message on your DIC, the SDM must be -replaced-.
If you have no light or message, the SDM will be reprogrammed.

I just got this notice in the mail today. My car was produced on 1/23... I have about 1,300 miles on mine so far, and the light has never come on. So, easy fix hopefully and I will be on my way.

No notice yet for me. Purchased 9/11/11. Airbag light seems fine on mine for now. The "leather" dash trim on the other hand...

Still haven't received a recall notice but my DIC "check airbag" warning lit up a couple of weeks ago. SDM was replaced yesterday and all is well again.

Brought mine to the dealer yesterday to have the SDM reprogrammed, they said it wouldn't take long so I waited while they did it. An hour later they told me that while they were running the program to update the SDM the link to GM was lost and so was all the information, not only to the SDM but to all the other modules as well. I don't know how many different modules the Camaro has but it didn't sound good.

They eventually got the other modules working but couldn't reprogram the SDM. They tried to get a new SDM module but there aren't any available in the area so now I'm going to be in a rental car for a few days while they work with GM Tech reps to solve the problem.

You've go to love modern technology. The car gets grounded because of a lost computer link to update an air bag system.

I'm taking mine in tomorrow morning for the air bag reprogram. I'm going to ask if they've dealt with the leather problem on the dashboards yet.
