Ported and polished throttle body

I was wondering if a ported and polished throttle body is worth it? I got guys at work telling me dont waste my money. 8-10 whp untuned sounds worth the $300 for me. Does any one have one and can verify the benefits plus any other added benefits besides the hp and with a dyno tune can I expect more of a gain.

Its actually only $165 SHIPPED once you get your core fee refunded.....

http://www.southwestspeed.net/index....ts/product/253

It smooths out the lower rpm throttle response and gives ya that top end bump.

Enjoy and hope that this helps leverage your decision a little more.

Is that for a brand new one? And what about the rwhp gains untuned and tuned?

Some are new, some are refurbished. Rx holds a high standard and claims that if you are not completely satisfied, they will buy it back!

Who does that kind of stuff if they aren't confident that it's great?!

8-12 and no Tune is required. I'm sure that you could gain more with other mods but it would be trivial and not worth the extra money for a tune for just that.

Right now i have a intake and long tube headers installed on my car. I have an SLP underdrive pulley sitting on my counter. I was gonna get the throttle body and get my car tuned. I was also thinking about throwing on a Cherry bomb extreme exhaust. ShouldnI wait for the tune after that?

Have you tuned it yet?

If not, then throw it all on and get the most out of it that you can!

No tune yet. I was gonna wait for the throttle body then get the tune. Is it nessesary to tune after the exhaust? Right now I just have my mufflers cut out

I recently had my TB hand ported by New Era Performance, a sponsor on this site. The cost was $75.00 + $9.95 shipping. Also paid to ship my TB to them. Total was less than $95.00. I shipped it Monday and UPS delivered it back to me Friday the same week. I live about 325 miles from them so farther away would take longer. What I liked about their service was that I was guaranteed to get my TB back. My car has 3600 miles and I didn't want a TB back with who knows how many miles on it. Of course if you don't have another vehicle, this would not be a option. If you do, it's a very good deal. Here is a link to the New Era website. Here is a picture of their work.

You are not really buying it for the HP...the hp you gain is honestly minimal, 8-10 is a stretch unless you are talking to the crank, I think 2-3rwhp is more feasable. That said, it definately helps with throttle response, smoothing out the idle and is a great addition to other mods (ported manifold, cai, headers, cam etc....). For what you pay and what it does it is a good mod and a cost effective one which I think is what a lot of us want. Just don't expect to dyno it and see the difference. You will feel it(Buttdyno), not see it.

Pretty good deal as well....I don't see the CNC Port Dynamics that are present on the VMax/Rx unit, but it is a cheaper option for sure!

Indeed so....I thought the same thing. From a customer standpoint. Thats a huge part of why we became dealers for them as well. It's a deal for what you pay.

Be hard to guarantee any HP on a dyno because it's so minimal.....agreed. But you do feel it on the old butt for sure.

Ditto tell those guys at RX to get a move on

Also I would wait for the tune. Get it all installed and then tune together. I have piece milled mine up to now part>tune, part>tune, but now have LTs, new cat back and a whipple on the shelf just waiting for the TB and tune it all out on the Dyno.
