Camaros only have 2 doors....suicide doors are for 4 door systems. Are you talking about taking the doors off and making it a two door system on each side? I think that would be way over priced to do.

He means making the two doors the Camaro DOES have open in reverse.
Good luck with that. The doors are so long you'll never get out if you park in a normal parking space. Honestly, I hate lambo doors, but I've considered installing them just to make parking lots easier.

I thought it was Suicide Doors if you only had 2 that went backwards and coach doors if you had 4 doors.

there is no kit for it, I've seen it done at sema and imo it should not be on that car but thats just me. expect to pay $5000+ because it is a massive job, you need to rebuild the entire workings of the door and the jambs of the car. you also must becareful with it because due to the camaro;s unique metal structure with different types of steel used you run the chance of compromising the camaros structural rigidity by weaking the metal

Yeah id say that $5000 is about close to right. And absolutely do not take it to a non experienced shop if you do decide to have it done. This mod is not for the basic installer or body guy. there is nothing bolt on about it. Its all welding and fabrication. Ive done 3 sets of them on trucks and hated doing every one of them and ive been building full custom vehicles for a long time. It takes alot of time and every body line needs to be perfect.

I did the doors on my s10, it was a lot of work, but in the end it was worth it. It is one of those attention grabbing mods that you dont see everyday. Besides the suspension work, the doors are always what gets noticed.
The camaro doors would be such a pain in the ass due to how long they are. The biggest issue I see is bracing both the inner door skin as well as the pillar.

Sorry for digging up an old post but if anyone is interested in doing suicide doors on their Camaro you might want to check out this install.
Here's the kit that I bought and had installed: http://scissor-doors.com/cart/chevro...-suicide-doors It's a really high quality kit and it's not universal. Might not be for everyone, but I love the way it looks! It's a lot more subtle than lambo doors but still still gets tons of looks! The manufacture is scissor doors, here's their website if you want to check their kits http://www.scissor-doors.com/suicidedoors.php This is what the actual hinge looks like, it's way different than any other design I've seen for suicide doors. It's a 180 degree opening kit so it wraps the doors all the way around the vehicle so they're parallel with the body. ![]() Here's some photos during the install: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I am one of the rare fans of Lambo doors.. (dont have them, but I like them) and even I wouldn't use suicide doors. As previously stated, getting in and out in a crowded parking lot would be impossible!! I park in those far off spots whenever I can (that guy at Loes between 2 sheds was awesome!!) but there is going to be that 1 time where you HAVE to park in confined areas.. and your seriously fubared then. I'm all for customizing out cars, this is one of those "If you like it, go for it" moments.. but personally, Nope.

i don't see how getting out would be harder. seems like it would be easier. nothing says you have to open the door all the way to get out, just like opening them normal.

Try it sometime and you'll understand straight away. Because the drivers seat faces forward, conventional doors require one to position him or herself in the narrowest point of the doors opening angle, and then transfer to the drivers seat. With a suicide door your transferring to the seat at the largest point of the doors opening. You can easily enter the car using half the opening angle to that of a conventional door. |
