MPG 2012 LFX
so what have people been getting on the highway? i just ran about 200 miles on the highway and i did not see anywhere close to 29MPG more like 24mpg. i had middle grade gas and a CAI intake on the car. other then that going around 75. how does one achieve 29mpg? downhill at 55? i mean i thought from time to time it would not even get close to 29 i kept resetting it to see current and never close. just wanted to see whatever one else was getting.

How many miles are on your car? Once it breaks in you should see better.
Also, did you actually reset your MPG indicator while cruising on the highway at 75 or did you just view it? You will have to reset it while driving down the highway and then drive at least 10 - 20 miles total on the highway to get a good idea what your really getting. Honestly, getting better than 24 mpg on the highway should be a peice of cake...many people here have seen better than advertised highway readings on their V6s. Also, while I think even at 75 you should get more than 24Mpg, I'd think the V6 probably does its best around 65 or so.

Farewell 2010 1LT/RS...

I wouldn't expect the LFX to be much different than the LLT.
After 40k miles on my 2010 LLT (that I sold)... if I'm doing 60mph, I'd hit 28.9mpg consistently. if I'm doing 65mph, I'd hit 26.4mpg consistently. if I'm going 70mph, I'd usually hit 24.7mpg. On my V6, there was a definite inverse correlation between MPG and MPH once I passed about 50mph. The faster I went, the lower the MPG would go. Peak MPG was around 31-32mpg @ 50-55mph.

i have about 1200 miles on the engine so far. I figured so much on the MPGs went way down at 75 compared to 65 and what not. i just was surprised that was all i know we did not get these cars for mpgs! just wondering what everyone else got.

On my LLT I did about 34 on a test run at 68 mph after the mods and well broken in. No mods about 31 and new like yours about 29-30. But at 75 mpg will go down. 200 miles on the LS3 and a test run showed 27 at 66. Break her in but give it some time, these aluminum engines dont fully breakin to run their best for 5-6000 miles.

Just passed 1400 miles total on my LFX, tested it last weekend on a road trip. 70 mph got 29.1 mpg, 60 got 31.3 mpg on 87 octane using cruise control.

Lets see I bought the car Dec 9, on Dec 23 I took it on a 1000 mile trip to see my daughters for Christmas. We had to take two vehicles, the 2010 Tahoe and the 2012 camaro v6 auto.
Truck gave me its normal 19.5 - 20.5 MPG Camaro surprised me and was right at 29.5 MPG calculated by mileage and gas receipts. Its my commuter car so I check the mileage constantly - 300 miles = 16 gal = 18.75MPG Commute is 15 miles one way with lots of stop lights and average 20mph. |

I have a 10 mile commute to work, slow, stop lights, etc, and get 19-20.
Gonna head on down to Ocean City, MD this weekend for the cruise show, curious to see what I can get with mostly highway driving.

I'm nearing my 1st break-in point of 1500 (I'm at 1250 right now) and I just got 28.1 mpg on my way home going about 65-70 on a 32 trip on the freeway. I have oddly enough seen my MPG go up after going above 65 or just after dropping down to 4th when someone beside me thinks they can out move me... even in my V6 LFX. I'm really amazed by the economy combined with power this car gets. I've heard it gets even better the more it's driven.

When I ran my car down from Albany I took it easy for the first 50 miles after that I started getting on it.
I kept my speed between 70 and pushed it to 80 where I could on the interstate. My first reading on the computer was 29mpg, since then it has been up and down between 23 and 27 my driving is mostly city with a little interstate highway when I can. My car is all stock with the exception of a hurst shifter and 1 lt wheels with the factory size tires. |

Does anyone know if they (GM) get their calculations at 55 or 65? I was under the impression it's always been 55.
At 55, on level grade, reset your mpg average, you'll see 30. I drive all over NY and PA and have an average of 25. |

I've actually been loving my drive home from work lately - instead of taking the freeway I've been taking a leisurely lakeshore road. It's only 35mph and I throw it in 6th gear once I get up to speed and am cruising. Keeps the RPMs around 1100... I think the MPGs were like 32-35. I still had to use the freeway for the last 5 or so miles but it greatly increased my average mpg's.

I live and work in the Dc Area so I get roughly 17-18 mpgs. So I'm thinking of upgrading to an SS seeing as 14-15 mpgs vs 17-18 wont be that big a difference lol

Wait another 2-3K miles and you will see a "slight" improvement. My car (LLT) did a similar thing when it was new with about 1500 miles on it it never got better than 23-24. Once it was broken in I saw 27-32MPG per highway trip. But now I drive in the city mostly and I usually never see better than 18 per tank with average speeds around 24mph and some stop light sprints.
I've given up on trying to get better mileage and am looking for more "go fast" instead! :-) |

I drive approximately 90 miles round trip (mostly highway) and was averaging 29 to 30 mpg @ 63mph. Just installed a CAI cold air intake about two weeks ago and noticed yesterday I was getting 30 mpg doing 70mph.
