Don't forget your cabin filter!

Here's photos of a new cabin filter compared to the old. The car is kept in the garage and has 30K miles. The filter from the dealer was over $40.00

Just 30,000 miles ... I was shocked how dirty it was.

Totally agree, it's not a critical part for sure. I had a $20.00 off coupon from the dealer on any service/parts and honestly thought that would about cover it.

Did ours today. 25,000 miles on this filter and could still see a little daylight through it. $16.70 for the new filter.

I checked several auto parts stores and no store I went to had the cabin filter listed, Fram dosen't make it according to there website, so I guess I'll get it from the dealer, list for around $40, around $20 net. I wanted an anti-bacterial filter but I'll guess I'll have to wait till they come out.

I had that nasty feet smell when I first turned the air on this spring. I took the old black filter out and emptied half a can of lysol disinfectant aerosol spray into the opening with the AC running full blast to kill all the mold in the ducts. Smells much better now!
I got the new one off Amazon for about $25 with free shipping. AC Delco part number CF178.

I put the TYC in ours. I haven't noticed any difference between the TYC and ACDelco.

Does the V6 have these too? For some reason & was thinking I had read someplace that some models do not have cabin air filters.

As listed in your owner’s manual on page 7-3:

Passenger Compartment Air Filter
The passenger compartment air filter removes most of the pollen and dust from the air that enters the vehicle. The filter will need to be replaced periodically. See Scheduled Maintenance onpage 102. Using the climate control system without an air filter installed is not recommended. Water or other debris could enter the system and result in leaks or noises. Always install a new filter when removing the old filter.

I hope this information was useful.

I got mine from GMPartsHouse. Replaces it at 32k, and it needed it!

They make filter sprays to make these filters more efficient. But a can of Pledge furniture polish (static clings) will work also. Only spray them on the intake side and only once when new.
