Why is Z/28 more heralded that the SS?

Some days I believe 1LE - Fall 2012, C7 Corvette - Spring 2013, Z/28 - Late 2013. But then there are days that I believe the Gen6 will start out with a few models like the Gen5. It's going to be hard for the Gen6 to live up to the Gen5, but offering a Z/28 right off the bat would be a marketing plus especially with a Z/28 specific engine.

Anyway you look at it, the game is to constantly want the next model up on the Camaro. I played that game in '76-'78; base, LT, Z/28. This time I'm going from 2LT to Z/28. It's comforting to know GM will not let me down whatever the next Z/28 is !!!!!

If we would do see a Gen5 Z/28, it'll have the C7 Corvette engine.

The day they stick an LS7 in a Camaro is the day I get rid of my GT for one. Putting an LS7 into a 5th Gen would push the price up to the ZL1 level.

OK I love the Idea of the Z/28...
but I already have a 2LT and will likely not be able to buy the Z/28 if they ever built it...
I thought about just slapping on some Z/28 badges just for the look, but someone on a thread said I would be a poser...
So I decided to have Emblempros make this for me:



They were supposed to be for the grill and trunk lid but they came in too big.
Trying to get smaller ones, but if not I will likely mount under the CAMARO on the fender??

Sound system in the Mustang is horrible and I wouldn't take any car like that far enough to get a nav. After owning my GT for over a year, I really know now what I would want in my car. Ford already provodes most of that in the Boss package, but to me, at the time it didn't make sense. Now, I want a bare bones car, with a track tuned suspension, sith no interior amenities. Kinda like an American GT3RS.

Putting emblems, or stripes, on something NOT so equipped pays homage to the "real deal" (if not passed off as "real").

Creating one, that doesn't otherwise exist, with emblems and/or stripes? "Blatant rip-off" comes to mind.

What are the chances of this actually happening? I think it would be a good move for GM to make the Z/28 NA instead of SC but would they really do it? I guess it can happen when the C7 Vette comes out and moves to the Gen 5 engine leaving the LS7 with no cars to call home.

There is no doubt if a Z28 is built and if it is built with the LS7 it will sell extremely well. The recipe has been defined amongst the Z28 threads. Build it and you'll probably even bring some of the Mustang crowd over to the dark side.

I owned a 1997 Z/28 that was a badass ride. However, the SS was the upgrade to the z/28. This was true for all 4th gen Camaros right? You would see the z/28 everywhere but the SS was far more rare and more expensive with beefed up performance parts.

Then the 5th GEN came out and all the V8s are called an SS whether it's a 1SS or a 2SS based on the options you want. Performance is the same. Yet there is no z/28 (yet). Why did GM/Chevy not just call the standard V8 Camaro a z/28 and instead just went with SS? This confuses most of my friends and family who think I really splurged to get the SS when the z/28 was always the more affordable of the V8 Camaro. They don't realize there is no z/28 for the 5th GEN.

Anyway, just thought I'd ask the experts here, because I honestly don't know. I do realize that in the 1st GEN there was the V6 and the V8 SS and the z/28 wasn't introduced until '69? Maybe that's why the 5th gen is SS since it's the re-birth? There were no SS in the 3rd gen right? I owned a 1986 Berlinetta back in the high school days. LOL. 2.8L baby!! Thanks to this site, I found the '86 Berlinetta was actually quite rare
