Accelerometers - Best way to record 0-60 and 1/4 mile times?

I'm looking at a couple accelerometers...GTech SS and K.A.T. Matrix to capture accurate 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Has anyone used the GTech SS? I've seen some mixed reviews on the KAT Matrix. Any others folks would recommend?

I have a GTech Pro RR. It's decent for just playing around, but not as accurate as using a dyno for HP or the drag strip for times. You have to get a lot of data inputted right for it to get a halfway decent HP/Torque reading. It takes the RPM reading (from the power in the accessory outlet) from your engine to estimate speed, based on what you enter as the gear ratio.

I haven't played with it in the Camaro yet. Maybe I'll give it a try this week and see how well it works.

I'll stick it on the windshield and put the GoPro camera facing it so you can see it working.

Been wondering about this, too. I'm just curious about 0-60 times. I've heard Dynolicious is a good app, but I don't have iPhone.

Best way to improve 60' and 1/4 times is stickier tires and practice. Best place to pracrice is at your local srtip.

The Performance Box from Racelogic seems to work good. Very easy to use, but expensive at about $500.

That's almost impossible with a manual transmission since 60 comes up right after the shift to second. Maybe if you had a passenger work the watch.

That's what I'm thinking, have the passenger run the watch, mostly for accuracy and some for safety :P

Probably the reason he is getting one is to get 0-60 times also.

I did that once but the problem with that is human error so there is no way to get an accurate time. The driver has to say when he hits 60 mph then the passenger has to stop the stopwatch a lot of room for human error. The best time i got was 5.3 and that was pretty good because the rear tires were not the pirelli's they were cheap nexen tires.

Torque app and ELM327 bluetooth OBD2 diag scanner. You can get one of these for about $25. There's several threads about them.

The best devise for recording 60ft and 1/8 / 1/4 mile times is
staging in front of a christmas tree.

I use Ulysse Speed pro on my Android Phone. It's not perfect but best bang for the buck. I compared it to what my buddy's on board system gave on his Challenger and it's close enough for me.

So i downloaded PocketDyno+ for the iphone and gave it a try tonight... my first 1/4 mile attempt was 13.47 @ 109.82. 0-60 was only a 5.27. I also downloaded Dynolicious, but will have to give it a try later. I got a little carried away with the research and ordered a Kiwi Wifi to plug into my OBD...now i already spend more than the GTech i was looking at...but i'm going to have a lot of fun playing with them!

I may be mistaken, but I think the op wants the 0-60mph time and a lot of people in this thread seem to think that is the same thing as the 60ft. time at the track, which it's not. I would imagine a good accellerometer should suffice though.

$15 for the Bluetooth OBD II module, and $5 for the app. Best $20 I ever spent. I use it with my Galaxy Tab mounted above the radio, but any smartphone will do.

Played with my GTech today (no video). I need to calibrate it better.. It didn't read the RPMs worth a crap. Gave me a 0-60 time of 5.1265 seconds and that was with wheel spin. Horse power calculated at 295. FYI, I have an SS so it's a little off. I can say the HP is off because I messed up the vehicle settings (weight and gear ratio) but I'm pretty sure my 0160 should be higher then that.

What does the factory say it should be? My cars got 58k miles, needs and oil change and I'm not exactly a pro driver.
