Help painting calipers

Im going to be changing my rotors so I figured I'd paint my calipers while im down there. I bought a Duplicolor degreaser, Duplicolor paint and sand paper and advice before i get started? Im also changing the pads should I paint them while there off?

I used the G2 pain and the kit comes with everything you need, I didn't sand the calipers, I only clean them with the spray that came with the kit and I think they came out great. My advice will be just to make sure the calipers are really clean. Good luck.

Yeah paint them while they are apart. I would say use degreaser then wash it it with Dawns dish soap and use the degreaser a final time. Even use a scotchbrite to clean it and that will also help scuff it up. You want to make sure it is prepped really really good. Grease/oil/silicon, do not go well together.

If it is prepped good it will come out looking good. Also when you spray your paint do not put it on heavy. Stay a little further back and light coats. People tend to spray heavy coats and end up with runs.

I would definitely paint them while you have the pads off it will be easier to cove all of the surfaces. I did not and it took a while to mask the parts I did not want to paint. I used the G2 paint and did not sand them as there was no rust on them but did clean everything well with brake cleaner. The prep work is the most important part if you want a good paint job.

G2 Paint

Take that duplicolor or vht caliper paint back and get G2 caliper paint.
I used that duplicolor and did all the long prep work and within 6 months it peeled and cracked.

So now I am using paint peeler and a wire brush to get the duplicolor paint off and bought the G2 paint kit

I went with the G2 kit in Inferno orange to match my stripes. Easy to use and I didn't have to worry about aerosol spray getting on anything.

Regardless of which kit you use, Just make sure you get the brakes really clean before you paint them. Use some brake cleaner spray and a good brush before you apply any paint.

are you talking about caliper paint from duplicolor?? the one with the brush?? if so, it sucks... had it in my other car and the water pressure from washing it took the paint off. for the camaro I went a different route, I used high tem engine paint for the calipers and rotor hats. I got the engine paint primer, then spray the base color and final engine paint clear coat. it came out great.. and so far it has hold up well..

Look bottom line is that everyone has a different experiance with the paint. If you ast 100 people 60 will say G2 ( Me Included) and 40 say something else. I used G2 and you can order it right off amazon for like $40. It works great. the guy who said that it came off with high pressure washing may not have gotten multiple coats on them. If you get 2 coats or more you should be fine. I bought the IOM and its a perfect match, they have all the colors that the Camaro comes in.

Check it out!!! you cant go wrong with G2.
