Speed Limiter?

I did a quick search but didn't find anything regarding this...though I suspect the question has been asked before.

The SS was limited to 155mph, which can be removed by tuning the car.

The ZL1 is supposed to be track ready, so first...is it limited to 155, and if so...is there a way to turn that off if you want to go to a track where straightaway speeds would exceed that. I'd hate to have to break the warranty to go to a fast track.

I think you are referencing the top rated speed as tested by GM, not its limitation . The Zl1 has been clocked at over 200 mph (202) with after market goodies and tune.

I have not seen this info 100%. It is assumed that there is no limiter on the coupe but there may very well be a value in the ECM.

For example my zo6 has 205mph value in the ECM but will not go 205mph under normal conditions.

I researched this topic last week lots of misinformation out there. most cars have a value in the tune but sometimes it is beyond the theoretical limit of what the car can achive speed wise.

LS2 Vett 186mph
LS3 vette 195MPH
C6 Z06 205
C6 ZR1 205

2010+ SS camaro 155
ZL1 camaro ????
ZL1 vert ????

anyone who actaully tunes the car should be able to chime in and say what the default value is.

My point here is...is the car limited like the SS at 155 where it cuts power when it reaches that speed? Or, is it just limited by conditions? And, what happens if you want to go to a track like Talladega or Indy and run there. I'm sure you'll be able to max out the speed on some of those tracks...so would I need to break warranty by tuning out the limiter to do that?
