ZL1 vs c63 amg coupe
A friend is getting one, and has challenged me in my ZL1. I won't end up racing him as I am not about that street racing life, but out of curiosity, what would it look like from a dig? From a roll?

Drivers race.
They trap about 116mph, so really it is whoever can shift faster. |

The coupes have ran 12.1s to 12.2s in mag tests, and trap high teens, it's gonna be very close. I'd say driver's race.

Eh, I say you'll take him. When I had just cam, headers, cai, and tune I ran a guy in one and pulled him about a car length or so to about 130. I was putting down 461 rwhp at the time and your doing more than that. Now the E55 AMG (Kompressor) guy.... we were dead even and I think he was stock. None of this happened on the street of course.

You should be able to take the base model and I think it would be a drivers race on the black series. If he does get the black series remind him that you could of bought 2 ZL1's for the price of 1 of his cars.

You'll get your butt handed to you! Take a look at this months Car & Driver where they test the Audi A6, BMW M5 and the AMG. All three are at or below 12 seconds and the concensus is that the ZL1 is a 12.2 car for the most part.

That's some kind of miracle, ain't it? I bet we agree on more than we disagree! Lol.... Thanks, I love the new LS3 but the L99 was faster with the same mods...I'm trying to fix that.

Did'nt see the test you were talking about but I read the M3 coupe vs C63 AMG coupe and the AMG was a low 12 second car same as the ZL1. I think it would be a drivers race. The term You'll get your butt handed to you! is way off unless the OP messes up the launch and or shifts. It would be a drivers race I think for sure.

Are the brake calipers red and is that a carbon fiber lip on the trunk? It sort of looks like it, but If yes to both questions, then yes it's the P31 development package. More horsepower (481 vs. 451 hp), higher speed limiter (174 vs. 155 mph) , better brakes, better suspension & crappy tires.

i never seen a stock zl1 run before. i seen one run with slicks and skinnies and he ran a 11.4. i seen a stock c coupe amg hit 11.9 a 12.0 and a 12.1 on the same day. i prefer real life testing not what the mags can do

The new c63 black series handles like a wet noodle but in a straight line it will rape a ZL1. Reverse the order for a road circuit.

problem with this stuff is they just need to race. when one car runs 12.2 in a magazine and another car runs 12.3 those two car when actually raced will most likely go back and forth.
In real life a slower car can win a race. get a better holeshot, other driver is not capable of producing the cars potential, etc etc. there is a video on here of a 6 seed car being short shifted running a 12.02 that guy driving I say the amg loses. on the flip side I have seen people hitting the limiter running 12.5-12.8 then the amg is going to win. bottom line if you are currious you actually have to race to find out.

I raced a 451hp sedan and it was a drivers race, we traded wins.
I hope that the ZL1 would smoke a coupe 481hp

I just picked up a C63 Coupe so it has the MCT tranny I really wanted but only about 100 pounds in weight loss due to the nice panaramic sunroof which I hope is more reliable then my last one.
The biggest fun factor for me, is the wife is happy being a badge fan, and I have a fun car to drive with a drivetrain I respect. My wife did like the Camaro, but for me not her and I wasn't going to buy two of these things lol I also like the Boss 302, but not the GT500 so much. The rear suspension on the G8/Camaro does make a huge difference when driving over curvy roads with bumps, slopes etc. I'm also not sure I believe it yet, but the tune only and tune plus bolt-on only power seems crazy. I thought my G8 was insane when a tune and bolt-ons got you more than 40 to the wheels, but a stock C63 gains at least that much with no bolt-ons and a soft tune with some tuners claiming 70+ horsepower to the wheels for a 1,400 dollar tune (http://www.modernhorsepower.com/). For my situation, I don't plan on doing cams, head work etc. which gets you a lot of horsepower out of a LXX motor, so the tune/bolt-on gains are nice with this thing. But as has been mentioned in other threads, gotta have overall fun with the car and I prefer this N/A monster over the much faster new twin turbo motors Mercedes is deploying, they sound like messed up whoopy cushions when they take off on you lol.
