Nope, I don't install obnoxious shifters so I'm all good.

There are a bazillion threads about the 1-2 shift problems that people are having. Some say a separate reservior and keep it clean. Some say buy the upgraded master cylinder. Others say tear into the transmission for some upgraded parts from gm/aftermarket. Luckily I haven't had that problem and I'm stock with the original fluid(I really should replace it soon).

Yes, I've had that problem before but not with this car. The only way to get that problem is by not pushing the clutch in fully before shifting or if the 2nd gear synchro is worn out. Since you are no doubt pushing the clutch in correctly, it must be the synchro. One thing for sure, if you keep grinding it like that you'll have other problems in the transmission. I'd suggest shifting very slowly until you get it fixed. That should minimize the grinding. Should be a warranty item if the car is new enough.
EDIT - I should have said "if the clutch is not disengaging fully" rather than "not pushing the clutch in fully."

Is it a problem with the 1-4 skip shift, or is it every time you shift to 2nd?

The driver is only half-way into second when he lets the clutch out.
I could reproduce it until the trans blows but I'm not that stupid.

That's no bueño! Back to dealer. Had that problem in a Nissan 350Z and they ended up switching out the trans. Was worse in the morning when the cat was cold.

Thats why I got my L99. I wanted the M6 so bad but I have seen so may issues with them (Tranny) I stayed away. I'll get my LS3 conversion soon enough though. Sorry about your frustration I know it sucks. Take it to the dealer and have them take care of it..

As far as I am concerned that's the CAGS kicking in. Mine will do the same thing all day long on a little "grannie RPM's" shift like that where you a right before the 1-4 shift light comes on. If it goes away being a bit more aggressive, there's the problem
