I was told that performance brakes always will squel a lil bit. When i had my SS turbo cobalt they squeled and now that i have my SS camaro they squeal lil as well but not like constant only on light braking.

Mine randomly squeal. When they do its at low speeds. Seems completely random on what days they squeal and what days they don't.

I have a 2012, I have had to brake hard only a few times because of traffic and because I wanted to test the stopping power of the car. I normally don't brake too much (because of downshifting), so really just light braking.

I have yet to hear any noticeable squeal from the pads. Is this only on the older models?

Note: I have around 8500 miles on the car, it's about 6 months old.

Mine have gotten to the point were they squeak all the time unless I brake real hard. Sometimes they squeak when I am moving at low soeeds without even pressing on brake pedal. Pads are still like new car has 4k on it. I am going to go to dealer this week and get it checked out, along with my service airbag light.

I have sqeeling brakes also...random and light but getting louder...for what we paid for these cars this shouldn't be happening..was fine till about 10k miles..we should write a petition to Chevy...this is BS..if I could trade it I would..only owning it for 8 months, this is disgraceful. Not happy about this!

I am going to try and take mine to dealership this week, I can't take it anymore. This time I will not accept the excuse that this normal for performance brakes

spray brake cleaner on calipers...remove caliper bolts...clean and coat with brake anti-squeel grease. that should do the deed, eliminate harmonic balance noise.

I would also recommend putting anti-squeal grease on the back of the brake pads.

2011 SS/RS here, been squeaky ever since I got it. I have 12000km on her about 7500 miles). The squeaking is unpredictable but it only happens on light/slow stops. I drove a Cobalt SS Turbo before with Brembo brakes and they NEVER squealed. Weird, I am going to go speak with my dealer about the TSB and see if they will replace the brakes. No Lemon law up here in Canada, only small claims court.
