mrt v2 mod
so i just hooked up my new MRT V2 axlebacks... oh my sweet jesus... it is amazing. when idling and just putting around, the difference is hardly noticeable, but when you get on it, it sounds amazing. highly recommend. plus easy install.

I'm in the market too, and with a convertible, I don't want anything obnoxious or that will make me deaf with the top down. I've been leaning towards the MRT V2 but have been trolling to get more feedback from fellw V6 owners. Thanks for your post...glad you are enjoying the MRT.

Hmmmm... been considering going for this exhaust but your comment about it hardly being any different at idle has me concerned. I can't hear my exhaust at all inside the car at idle and I'd really like to hear at least a little bit. Is that possible without also going deaf on the highway due to drone?

Been looking and can't find the answer. Anyone know if MRT v2 make a cat back system instead of just the axle back system?

Has anyone mixed a different cat back system with the MRT v2 axle back?

you can get the MRT v2 and get new piping (like 3") and get a resonated x-pipe with a resonator delete and thats pretty much a cat back and will be a lot cheaper. (I may be wrong, correct me if I am)

I too have been looking at the MRT V2. Someone posted a video of it on here somewhere and it sounds really good. I also heard the SLP loudmouth and it sounds really good. I have not heard the Corsa Sport exhaust yet. What I'm looking for is a nice deep throaty sound with hopefully a performance upgrade as well. Anyone know what exhaust system will help with performance, while at the same time giving me that deep throaty sound?

Anyone know the inlet size diameter of the MRT V2 muffler? Or i guess the pipe diameter of the factory exhaust before muffler entry?

Just measured the pipe and outside diameter of exhaust pipe before muffler (where you would cut for new muffler) looks like 2" or more like 2 1/4"

After listening to all the vids people have made I am sold on the sound this setup makes. This is what I will be adding soon as well. Thanks for the info.

I am waiting for the MRT V2 exhaust to arrive. I've been looking but haven't found the answer yet. Does anyone know what the hp/torque gain will be by swapping out the stock exhaust for the MRT V2's ?

I did a dyno session after installing the V2... we compared it to a previous dyno ![]() For me the main thing about doing the exhaust was: 1) Better SOUND than stock 2) Better LOOK than stock 3) Weight savings 4) Performance Other systems make some pretty big claims, but I think pretty much all the system are going to realize the same gains... |

I have read countless exhaust threads, listened to sooooo many youtube & aftermarket site videos, as well as visited my local exhaust shop several times when others were having work done. The overall v6 consensus seems to be: mrt v2.0, corsa & solo.
If you don't wanna spend the $$$ on a pre-fab system buy/request the following items to be installed at your local shop: Magnaflow 11379 - Resinated X-Pipe design muffler (V8 guys use the longer 11386 due to that huge resinator located where our h-pipe is, this goes directly after cats & replaces the stock h-pipe) http://www.amazon.com/Magnaflow-1137.../dp/B000XQI3A0 Request for them to cut of the factory resinators & install straight pipe back to your stock mandrel bent tubing. (There is no reason to go to 3" on v6 - I heard it in person & it was horrible). From the cats, through the 11379 up to stock exhaust you will have 2.5"... stock towards mufflers is 2.25". Cut the mufflers just after the rear hangers. There are (3) options from this point -- really comes down to personal preference. 1) For about $150 they can bend straight pipe out & weld your factory tips on (cheap solution - creates a bit of pop upon decel, sounds nice at idle & upon WOT). 2) For about $200 bucks extra they can install magnapacks which will help with rear droan & the pops on decel. http://www.brothersperformance.com/p...l-muffler.aspx 3) Install any aftermarket cat-back you are leaning towards (solo, borla, corsa, mrt, slp, ect -- but have it welded) Finally if you go with options 1 or 2 above... I would recommend scrapping your stock tips & increasing to 4" just to give it a meaner/more pleasing look (this shouldn't be more than 100 bucks). Hope this helps anyone looking for a cat-back, but not looking to spend 800+install/time to get there
