Ny-Trex did not go as planned

Well things did not go as planned. We got the car up on the dyno and did the base run. After that was done we hooked up the bottle and did a test of the system. Purge worked great. Went to do the run and......nothing but some smoke So shut the car down and we determined the nitrous was not spraying. Trouble shot for over and hour. The solenoid that is suppose to spray the nitrous was not working. It fried. solenoid was hot and started to smoke and smell like wire burning. We know the fuel was spraying because when we started the car it bogged down for a little like it was flooded. So bad solenoid. Oh well. contacted the place where I bought it and they dont have just the solenoid pack in stock so they are sending me a whole new kit and I have to send back the kit with the bad pack in it. Should get it on Thursday and we will try again. But here is the base run results.

If an issue ever comes up please us know. We will get you the part needed free of charge and fast. Where did you purchase this kit? I will be contacting them to get the part back to look into what happened. We do offer a lifetime warranty on our solenoids but usually the only issue would be from a clogged plunger. I want to see what happened (i know that it was not a blockage issue on your end).

let me know what i can do for you-our parts are in stock if you have a deadline with the dyno.

Nice baseline by the way

Sorry to hear that Trooper, but just have a few beers and be patient. It will come together.

Good customer service NY-TrexN20, thanks for looking out for us.

Sorry to see you had an issue, glad to see Customer Service is great.
This says a lot about you as a person too. You gave respect in knowing that things happen and just not blowing up and talking smack about an issue.
People like yourself are what make this forum a great place to discuss things.

hey everyone, just an update. Got the new kit in and still having issues. At this point I have decided to return the kit. Now I am not going to bash DEI on Ny-Trex. The people over there are doing great things for the community. The way I see it I just had a bad run. My car is still in one piece and all is well. I would not hesitate to do business with them again and would recommend them. They helped me out as much as they could. Good costumer service after the sale in my opinion is what makes or breaks a company. They have obviously sold a lot of kits and are having success in the V6 community. I want to thank them for all there support. My Mechanic is an authorized ZEX dealer and got me a great price on a kit. So hopefully next week I will have it in. Once again to the team over at Ny-Trex, keep doing great things for us. You have my respect.

Just heard about the issues you have had. We do back our kits up no matter what issue comes up and we want to ensure everyone that our parts are tested before packaging. Even though we do test our solenoids, sometimes a faulty components makes its appearance after leaving our facility. Historically, it is very rare that a solenoid will fail by shorting. As a precautionary measure, we have installed an inline fuse into the valve system circuit. This covers you when the coil might short out. Also, we want to let everyone know that this system is utilizing the ground wire as a trigger. It was not designed as the more common "hot wire" system. Please do not cut into the harness and jump leads unless you are positive that you know about this type of circuit. Creating a kit in this manner (ground triggered), considering the new Camaro, is the best way to go. When I was involved in creating this kit I fried a few solenoids just because I was not aware of the terms involved in a ground switch setup.

Thank you for your positive words with us and keep in mind that we are here to help. Let us know how and when we can.

What's the latest with the other kit? Have you pushed the button yet? Don't keep the latest info all "bottled" up. <---- OK bad attempt at humor.

I have been at trade shows lately but this is what we have found out. When we received the systems from Jeg’s, we immediately tested the valve systems. Both worked properly. We ripped into the TT valve system to try to find the cause of trooper182‘s issues. None could easily be found. After fitting another valve on another car, the issue popped-up again! We’ve determined that the anodized valve bracket was the cause to these failures. Simply put- the anodizing was not allowing a good ground connection to the engine. When testing the valve systems after assembly, we would connect the ground to the N2O in AN fitting. This assured a good ground, but knocked the bracket out of the loop!

Wow, good detective work there.

Ny-Trex, This would effect all the solenoids or just the NO?
Wondering if I should add a ground wire

Hey Jerry, it would affect all three solenoids. That is a common ground for all of them. It definitely will not hurt anything if you redo the ground connection. The chance of your ground connection going south is not real high. But the beauty of this kind of ground fault, it will not allow anything to work. You are not at risk of spraying just fuel or just N2O. So, if the ground connection opens, you will not inadvertently break anything. Good luck!

Thanks, I'll probably throw one on, but I've had no issues since the install.

Sorry to hear about the issues that tropper182 had with the system.
So far I have used the Ny-Trex system at the track several times, all with good results.

Now to experiment with larger jets!!
Ran a 100 shot at Zmax-
