Kids love BumbleBee!!

Had to share this one from this morning..

I was driving through Renton this morning (I usually do to cut out the majority of the S-Curves.. just drive straight through Renton and head up the hill by Fry’s).

While I was waiting at a light, a school bus full of Jr. High kids drove by me…

Saw jaws drop and quite a few Thumbs up being raised…

Makes me giggle.

I was parked at Southcenter one time last year and while still sitting in my car a bunch of Asian out of towners (I know that is not politically correct) got out of their van, gathered around my car and took lots of pictures. They never even knew (or cared) that I was sitting in my car watching them. It was fun to watch how excited they were.

I was at the Sandy show with Chris and his transformers edition and they were out looking at cars and this kid about 4 years old came up to me and very shy with his hands behind his back and head lowered said, " I wouldn't mind if he transformed. " This was one of the cutest things ever. he continued, "Really, I think it would be ok if he transformed, I'd like to see him."

Thanks for adding that James. Wish I could have been there to see it.
The wife and I always love when the kids (young and old) get so excited!
We always tell the people "He's under contract not to transform" or "I didn't buy that option". It always gets a laugh.

Chris, I love the reaction from peple when you push the button to make the transforming sound. It's great! Little kids are the best.

Thanks! I know it can get tiring listening to it all day long. I even get annoyed some. But the reactions are amazing.

I had a pretty good time watching you wait for just the right moment to push the button at the Sherwood show! The smirk on your face made me chuckle.

Scott, the sound Chris has is the sound that is made in the movie while they are transforming. It's pretty cool. He has the speaker under the hood, so at shows, when people poke their head under the hood to look, he hits the remote... people get pretty startled by it, then realize what it is and grin from ear to ear.

the funny thing is when it makes the sound half the time they don't know if it's the car or his bumble bee figure standing in front of it.

I started a thread about a very similar notion down this way.

Here's another good happening.

At the end of one of my drill weekends, I stopped by a gas station. When I got out of the car, another car near mine had kids just gawking.

One asked me, "Did you beat the Decepticons?" I don't usually get that question - but quickly realized that here I was, in uniform (ACUs), getting out of a Bumblebee (in the film, uniformed guys and the transformers were taking it to the bad guys).

I told the kid, "We got 'em!" It was a cool moment I think.

Not even sure how to respond to that, something like have you been living under a rock for the past 5 years?

My 11 y/o son continues to marvel at the reactions of other kids when they see the car. It's as if they hold him to a higher level because he was seen climbing out of "Bumblebee".

Just last night there was a young kid helping his mom unload groceries. I dropped off my son while he waited for me to back my car into my garage, next to their garage. My son told me the kid's jaw was dropped and he just stared at my son in awe. After I backed into the garage, the kid snuck a peek inside the garage.

As we were walking away, I hear the kid tell his mom, "Did you see that, mom? That kid gets to ride in Bumblebee!". My son was grinning ear to ear.

Especially considering that each film could have doubled as a 2 hour GM commercial..

And the first one was HUGE for the Camaro in terms of advertising.

I had seen some press release photos of the Camaro concept and was excited.

But it was the scene where Bumblebee changed from the '76 to the 2010 Camaro that made me cream my shorts and solidly plant that Camaro as my dream car.

And now I own it.........

<tear>........

Early June the Skittle Brigade (Ladybugsmom, Lady Bumblbee and us) did a trip to Tahoe. On the way home, Lady Bumblbee had to make a trip to California, so it was just us two Camaros. We stopped to fuel, and we were asked "Where's Bumblebee?"

And our answer was "We left him in California." The guy was like, "Seriously?" It was pretty good...
