Are there any leaking tops built after Feb 2012?

Just a quick check everyone. Is there anybody out there with a leaking vert built after the rumored Feb 2012 top redesign/production change?

I am considering changing to a coupe but I would prefer the vert. I just don't want another leaker.

I picked my 45th Anniversary RS Convertible (UP) from the dealer on 4/11/12 and It's been through some very hard rain, hail and even the automatic power wash you drive through with the jet dryer, etc and NO PROBLEMS I'm sure it's more the 2011's and then it's only a very small per cent. At least that's my two cent. Michael in Virginia

My first 2012 built 7/26/11 leaked after the top replacement. Water drainage tube came loose. Second car built on 4/4/12, and delivered on 4/17/12. No leaks yet, top down 30 times, and 2100 miles. Now, I never drive in rain but when I washed it yesterday, I soaked the top to get the dust and crap off. Back floor was bone dry. Car still smells new.

Sounds good!! Looks like this one may work out. After all you've been through, basically the same avenue I am going down right now, I hope to hell it's a good one.

Jury is still out. Ask me at the end of August once prime top down weather is done.

Per my internal resources, the 2012 Convertible Camaro top has changed. It changed around mid year, the fabric is different and the top is not interchangeable with any other models. I hope this information was helpful.

Brandon, please be more specific. Our customers deserve better. We all know there was a change to hardware in February. Jack Pantaleo made that public knowledge. My district manager indicated a new top revision is coming out in late June.

A separate thread created by you, authorized by GM explaining the order and description of revisions would be very helpful. That way customers would know what to watch for and know how to educate their sometimes uneducated dealer service departments.

I'm looking forward to that info.

At least it finally came out in print that they did in fact make a change. Even though I knew that back on 2/14/12 per Jack. Now, I agree, what did they do to the tops that are different? Is GM going to step up for all of those that still have problems and replace the top, mechanism, and water bag for all of you? It would seem that should be the way to go.

sstoked,

I wouldn't be holding my breath while we wait. Not to sound too pessimistic but I do not think a post will happen.
Even last week, GM Canada customer service did not ackowledge that the convertible tops were having issues.
I got the typical canned responses "sorry to hear you are experiencing problems" and "no we have not heard of any of the camaro convertibles having top issues"

Even though mine has been repaired(FOR NOW),not sure if the repair will last but being optimistic and keeping my fingers crossed.Time will tell. But I will continue to keep pushing for permanent fixes. If I sometimes come across as a Jacka** for blasting certain people, so be it.As long as the wrongs are made right, afterall everyone on here has spent $40K ++ on their new car and deserve to have the problems made right and without any arguments such as "oh you must have put the top down wet(rub marks) or left items in the trunk to cause your 5th bow to break" even though these are some of the known issues with the 2011's and early 2012's

Jason, does your new vehicle with new top mechanics still rub the back deck lid when down? Particularly when flapping in the wind while driving?

It still flaps but seems to at the front of the top. It also drops lower in the well and sits at a different angle. More diagonal. Lower in the back and higher in the front kind of like this \. It also moves further away from the body when lowering. Maybe I will take a video of it. Kind of hard to explain though. I still have some wrinkles behind the rear windows.
Like I have been saying since I got the car though, wait till the end of August. Then I will have 5 months of top down time. So far the top has been down 32 times since I got it on 4/17/12.

From the back of the top to the rear deck in the center is about a 2 inch space when the top is down. It gets smaller to the outside to the 1/4 panels to about a 1/2 inch of space. Hope that helps I just went out and looked for you.
