What's even funnier about the age comment is that a current poll on SVTPerformance.com of 2013 GT500 ownership shows 44.75% are 40 years and older

Currently.... 25.97% are between 40-50 years of age, and 18.78% are 50+ .

The largest segment are the 30-40 year old range...... 30.39%

Most young peeps (who nearly never own the car in question ) who bring up age in their comments simply can't afford to play in this price range

edit: Oooppsss....forgot to provide the link

I believe there was a GM survey done for Z06/ZR1 ownership.....it's on the Vette big board.

IIRC, 100 % of new Z06 ownership was male........98.9% of ZR1 ownership are male.

There are a few female C6 ZR1 owners on CF that purchased their ZR1's new, and it's not their husband's car

I agree with both your comments. And thanks for the stats. You gotta love hit n' run comments. They post and disappear, dang trolls.

I'm a young(er) married guy with a '13 Shelby.

Even if I weren't married, I don't see the attraction to the whole "picks up more girls" mentality. Imagine the diseases those girls who flock to cars have. Eeeeeeewwwwwww....

And personally, when I see chicks driving nice cars, it's hot! Huge turn on!

I'm yet to teach my wife, but when she learns, no doubt I'll enjoy the sight of her driving.

It means I would like to know the demographics behind Corvette ownership as it relates to age. Hence my implied interest and why I asked where the data was coming from.

Better...?

I've been following your thread on the other board.......congrat's on your ownership, and sucky that you got your first paint chip :(

Here in Arizona, you'd need some paint protection immediately after purchase to save your paint on the front end

GM has provided this info via their ownership survey's........you can Google that or find it at CorvetteForum dot com .
I think they also break it out to the specific models as well

Cool I will take a look. I am willing to bet that the average age of a certain's cars owner has decreased. Could be wrong but need confirmation.

I think for Corvette, it's stayed pretty consistent......but yes, there has been an influx of younger new owners as of late on CF.

as far as the camaro goes it just screams girl's car. it's pretty and it handles well. it's fast but not scary fast. recently my wife and i went out car shopping for her. she couldn't decide if she wanted a camaro or a volkswagen beetle. are you kidding me? man i hope she decides she wants the camaro. it's girly but not that girly.

I wouldn't say anyone who buys a Z06 or ZR1 is stupid at all. That's a pretty good idea actually.

All Camaros looks the same. All Mustangs look the same. All Challengers look the same. There is subtle differences in each trim level. I don't think there is one car on the planet a girl doesn't drive, so in that regard, all cars are girl's cars.

Do you give your cars a name?

So, let's recap. The Mustang guys are convinced that Corvettes and Camaros are bought by mostly females, or a "girl's car".

Let's look at the numbers.

Corvette = 87% male owners
Camaro = 75% male owners
Mustang = 69% male owners

Now look at the chart below. There is only ONE production car that has a higher male% buying demographic and it is the 911.

So, these "few" Mustang guys must have some deep insecurity with the Mustang and Camaro co-existing, that they label Camaro/Corvette as girls' cars in order to make themselves feel better (MANLY!) about owning a Mustang. Hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.

I personally don't care. I drive what I want, and don't care what others think. If you like Camaros that cool. If you like Mustangs, well that's cool too.

It's been well known for years, that the Mustang has a large female ownership.

I've always thought Mustang was more of a girls car. The stars shown above are what I seem to see on the road. I see Mustang and then a girl is driving it.

To me anyone that has to label any car either a mans car or a woman's car is just trying to inflate their own ego to show they bought the right car for their gender. I say it is all BS!!!

Boy has this thread jumped the shark or what. How about getting back on topic please.

I just traded in a 2007 Solstice GXP roadster with a GM tune giving it 290 bhp and 340 lb/ft from a 2.0 liter four cylinder. That's 145 hp per liter with a VV turbo, VVT, direct injection, sodium filled valves....all stock

Lots of folks laughed and said it was 'girlie'. I couldn't hear them for long, they were several car lengths behind me, looking at my girlie tail-lights getting smaller

Are you that insecure that you are still having to label cars as being Girley? Poor baby. maybe someday you will grow up and realize that the only opinion that matters about your car is your own. You need to get over it.

Who said anything about ownership? I'm talking appeal. And I'm happy if girls like my car. Used to have 3 Miatas. Damn right the we're girls cars. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?

No way in hell a hot chick is comfortable being seen in a car with a contrasting roof and Boss 302 on the side.
