Mosport track days coming soon. Who wants to go fast??

Well, now that my car is back on the road, it's time to start organizing another Mosport track day.
I will be posting up a list of potential days that we can go with Apex very soon.
Schedule:
June 28
July 10
Aug 2,
Sept 12, 24, 27
Oct 1
Cost will be around $500
Post up if you are interested, and what days are best for you.
It is a great opportunity to get to know your car, and see what it can really do.
Believe me, you can't even come close to knowing how good your car is by driving on the streets.
All those suspension and engine mods will finally be worth having, trust me.
Here's a little video from last year that I took with Tommy in the car after the track finally dried up.

July 10th works for me.

I've got limited track experience though... lapped at Calabogie with the BMW ADS and some semi-organized backyard rallying, is that an issue?

That's great, the drivers will be split into beginner, experienced, and advanced groups. Beginners will have some classroom time before hitting the track.

Works for me then. July 10th is ideal, or any of the Sept/Oct dates whatever works for the masses

Apex does driver training at all of their events. Like stratman said, they have 3 groups based on experience, and the beginner group gets some classroom time as well as an in-car instructor.

If you've been on Mosport before, then you shouldn't need to run in beginner ... you should fit into at least the intermediate group.

You'd have to talk with the Apex organizers, whether you'd be beginner or intermediate group? If you're at all unsure, then best to go with the most instruction you can, although having run Calabogie (how many times??) then you might be a good fit for intermediate, as long as you had somebody with you to show you the track ... Mosport is much FASTER than Calabogie (although arguably a lot less "technical" than Calabogie).

If I can make it on the 10th, I would gladly take anyone with me who has either A) never run Mosport, and/or B) would like another perspective on the track, the line(s), their driving, etc.

Looks like I'll have to pencil this one onto the calendar . Now I just need to get my car prepped!!! (... ordered a Tick master cylinder to replace the crappy factory LS1 m/c, and ordered the caliper brackets to allow me to run 13" C5 Corvette brakes on the front of the car).

Is this open to anyone?
If so...do you just show up on the 10th? And what time does it start.
I think I can drive but since I have never been... I would likely be considered a beginner. I have driven circle tracks but not road courses.

Here's their website: http://apexdriving.ca/

Best to register in advance, rather than just showing up, ESPECIALLY if you're a beginner and require an assigned instructor .

I am good for the 10th. Booked it off.
As far as safety gear, none was required.
The only this I would suggest to purchase or bring is a GOPRO HERO HD CAM. If anyone wants to use mine to record their laps, I have an extra 16gig card. Or just bring you SD card.
Can't wait......

I think I'd probably be more comfortable in beginner... Ran 1 day at Calabogie (5x25mins). My rally experience was with an '84 Fiero and several years ago lol. I posted a vid in this thread, pg3: http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread...=182198&page=3

I was still learning the track at that point, my later runs were much better in terms of downshifts (and quicker shifts for more both hands on the wheel time), line and less hesitation on the blind corners. Anyway, no matter what, I think first time on a new track should be beginner for me lol.

Booked the week off work for Bluesfest in Ottawa, but I was disappointed with the lineup so July 10th was super convenient! Will be registering this week with Apex!

Tpower - Got any vids of the ZL1 posted (sorry if you have tons and I should know better cause I'm just too lazy to look right now lol)?
