Well, guess I'll be getting a letter soon. No parts involved and probably cutting out a couple sections so it can drain if needed.

My dealer always takes the shield off when changing the oil. No big deal.

Actually had this happen when I change my own oil. Didn't get the drain plug out quite fast enough and the oil drained a weeee bit sideways................all over the plastic underbody panels. Never leaked on the floor so I guess perfectly captured by the panels...........................for future use.

Wasn't there a thread a while back where a few jeeps were being recalled for fire risk and everyone acted like it was because all Jeeps were junk? well, um.......

A piece of plastic doesn't make it junk. I've owned several Jeep models dating back to '87. Jeeps rock

Don't mind the pro-GM bias on a Chevy site, Jeep driver.

Me too, I really didn't want to make a trip to the stealership any time soon though.

Almost bought one of these. As a matter of fact I just test drove one a couple of weeks ago along with the focus and optima counterparts. I think Ill just wait it out to see if they fix this for next year.

It shouldn't be much of a headache for owners. Not a tough fix. They're very nice little cars for the money, great daily drivers. I just cringe every time I see GM lose money on something like this.

I have a feeling it's going to be using a Dremel and opening a few slits on the plastic belly pan.

Then I can build a WTCC car out of it.

The recall could blemish the car's image, but that impact is mitigated because no crashes, injuries or fatalities are known to have resulted from the deficiency.
kudos to GM on catching this before people were injured or killed.
