Oh, totally didn't recall the name of the company until I googled it. Thing is if these aren't OE but actual GM Speedline wheels then
![]() Even if they're OE they're still powdercoated and if that's in good shape it's still worth it since powdercoating 'em would just add cost.

If those are speedlines, then go with them. They will be better quality and lighter.

Pure street/summer perf tire. I'm not going to take it to the track any time soon and I need some cool/wet weather grip for those rainy spring/summer/fall days. November she'll switch back to 245x16s.

NT05 only goes out to 295 width. 555 hits the same bar. Seems my only options at an 18" rim would be drag radials, though I'm wary of driving daily on them as opposed to something like a KDW or a Pilot Sport (which also max at 295).
May just be screwed into a 295 tire unless I can find something.

295/35/18 is the correct tire size for those wheels, btw.
FWIW, when I drove my 2000 all four seasons, I ran 555r drag radials. The problem with drag radials isn't so much wet performance; rather, it's busting your rear. IMO, anyway.

EDIT: Actually took the time to google the setup on a Trans Am.. and it actually looks right for the car. Granted the images below are the standard silver, the rims are OEM and sitting on 265s/295s ![]()

Also cause for possible celebration:
The rims are painted - haggle down the price The rims may come with P Zeroes and Radials in back - he wants 1K, newp! In the end if I can wheel and deal him to 650 max on the rims and tires (used radials.. not sure if want..) I could be rolling on them by Sunday. I do want to strip them down to bare aluminum and polish the piss out of 'em though.

thought you said they were powder coated? if you are going to go through all the trouble of removing paint and polishing i would just buy brand new wheels from OE Wheels....my $0.02

However, I'd probably wind up wasting my money going OE vs Speedlines. The former you can find cases up and down the net where they're out of round or weak or what have you. Where I could just buy a can of stripper, and spend a weekend making them look nice. And in the end if I can get the price down it'll be cheaper than buying from OE in any case. Bare minimum from them would probably run me 900 bucks; I could get legit WS6 speedlines (275s) for 600 with tires in chicago. But if it's that much 'trouble'.. I could just bypass wheels altogether and keep the 245s on the car and just spend my money elsewhere.

Not much of a fan of the rivet look, however last night got to thinking, may just strip/polish the lip to break up the black. Tires are Toyo Proxes TQ, no M/T but good wet and dry grip. In the end I think I still would go with these if not 00-01 Speedlines due to forging. These may be spin cast (year unknown at this point) which may not be forged but is still stronger than OEs and my PA6 stockers.
They'd be as strong but lighter than your WS6 wheels, dmg so again if the price is right..

If you can talk him down, stick with the Speedlines. I've priced a set of 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 Black C6 Z06 wheels from OE, and with tires it's around $1400. The wheels themselves are only around $500 but to get a decent set of tires you get tore up in those sizes on the rear.

Yeah, drag radials and 295 street tires aren't cheap at all.. Almost 360 a tire on average. The Proxes will be good for now since they are pretty stable even in the rain. Probably toss the tires after this season, maybe next and go to a factory style tire that can take a hard corner.

Good news: I haz monies again! Wheels were also legit '02 spin cast Speedlines.
Bad news: Wheels were DIRTY and paint was in ok condition. Needs two rash spots smoothed out. He also wouldn't seperate the tires which were shot up front and iffy at best in back. I offered an overly generous 650 and he wouldn't budge below 800. Weren't horrible but needed minor TLC. I'm going to keep watching them because the rears were good and to refinish would only take less than 2 hours of smoothing and paint. If I can catch him with them a week later I'll 'give a courtesy call' and an adjusted offer. ![]() Also ordered this: ![]() ![]() And made this:
