Until that time, I'll enjoy this ride to the fullest...which I do every chance I get with free time to ride....but I'm waitn' on the Z's return as prescribed. The LS7 is a screamin' demon.., and now is the time for GM and Chevy to pull the trigger on this model, before the body style change..., I feel sales would not be affected across any model and it's return would enhance Chevy's position in the HP market.
Yes, yes it would.

fyi ... I'm not sure if I've said this publicaly yet but ... at this point I'm between a used SS and a new Z28 (that 'fits' with what I think a Zedder should be)

Hear that GM? If you build a Z28, you will get a sale from me. If you don't, you won't. I shall not be buying a new SS or a new ZL1

*ps* I just noticed that Lowdowns posting style may be rubbing off on me ... lol

I don't think they are listening. If they were, why have they been ignoring the Z28 crowd this long?

I doubt they are ignoring the customer base with regards to the Z/28. I suspect they are waiting to offer it in the next generation with the lighter platform that was developed for Cadillac. JMO

If that's the case, they need to stop telling us to "stay tuned" and just say there will be no 5th gen Z28.

Well can't they say "stay tuned" and still offer a Z/28...isn't "stay tuned" inferring something will happen in the future? How long after the ZL1 was announced was it actually available for customers to take delivery? 1 year? If you need a car, it doesn't do any good to wait on a Z/28. If they announced it today, you couldn't get your hands on it until next year anyway. Assuming your 1998 Z/28 is stock, the current 2SS will outperform it by leaps and bounds. If it is not stock, then get the 1LE and take it straight to the performance shop.

The line of ZEE-lievers starts here:

X.................................................. .................................................. ......................

...and it already includes enough "hands" to keep Oshawa very busy for more than a few hours' total production...

"Keep those cards 'n letters coming"...

BTW, with the recent "bargain-basement" pricing of the 1LE Package ($3,500 extra on 1SS/2SS), a mid-to-upper $40s Z28 with 475+ hp would make a terrific and saleable "Track Rat"...no doubt it would be the CEO.

True and it's not that I desperately need a car. I should say I want to buy a new car. I like the looks of the Camaro so I want to buy one. I test drove an SS manual and it was fun but not what I was expecting. I guess if I get some more time behind the wheel and get a better feel for the car I would like it more. Maybe the 1LE will be what I am looking for, I just like the history of the Z28 and hope to see it return.

Now that the 1LE Option has been priced ($3,500 extra on either 1SS or 2SS), the price disparity from ZL1 to 1SS/1LE is a whopping $18 GRAND at Base Price!

Rationale for a Z28? Mid-$40s suddenly looks like a very attractive (and currently barren) performance Camaro territory...

$3,500. I'm impressed at the value. Great job GM!

BTW, The very fact that nothing is said is the very reason for optimism.

What's the guess at a 1SS/1LE based Z28 as we've outlined?

Is that 11Gs on top of a $33,535 1SS base or %44,535? i am in! Don't need no stinkin Recaros or Dual mode (-at least $1500, make them options!)

Price without DM and Recaros: $43K?? Is that possible?

I'm guessing $11k on top of the 1SS price. Anything is possible when you are just taking wild ass guesses about what may or may not come in the future.

The 1LE being cheaper than a lot of people thought makes a Z28 more likely in my opinion.
