update. just got results from ct scan on monday. cancer hasn't spread
anywhere else and tumor hasn't grown any since last scan.
so the weekly chemo sessions seem to be working and will be with me for the duration now.
doc is planning to mix up a different chemo now to see if he can reduce the tumor next.
thanks for all your support guys and gals!!!

I stopped smoking a week before I got my Camaro, so I haven't had a smoke for seven weeks (as of today). I'm happy to say that it hasn't been terribly difficult. After smoking for the better part of 40 years I'm pretty happy about it so far. I had stopped twice before, once for 2-1/2 years and once for 4, so I know how easy it is to start again. Gotta be strong - my sweetheart is very supportive.

I quit on March 16th of this year and used the Nicoderm Cq patch for 10 weeks as directed on box. That was the easiest of all the times I've unsuccessfully tried to quit. (5 or 6 times) I was really suprised how much easier and maybe I just actually wanted to quit this time. Had smoked for14 years. Wanted to quit for my long term health while I was still pretty young and to save the money I was literally burning up. So it has now been 15 weeks and still going strong!!!!

As I always tell people, don't quit quitting!!!! I stopped for good when I was 25. I had started smoking @ 9 yrs. old and by the time I was in my teens I was smoking 1 - 2 packs a day!! (No my parents did not let me!!) I "started" quitting when my first daughter was born but it took until my second daughter was born until I finally stopped for good! I can say that it has been over 25 years now and I don't miss them one bit! It took 4 times to stop for good, so don't stop trying!!!

Hang in there - the first week is the toughest. After that the nicotine craving subsides and you just have to break the habitual smokes (after meals, at coffee breaks, getting in your car, etc.). YOU CAN DO IT! I'm not saying it's easy - I'm approaching 8 weeks myself - still tempting just out of habit.

I quit smoking. It's been about a year and a half now. All I did was stop. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but it was really easy for me to quit. I was surprised. I smoked for 7 years but maybe I wasn't really addicted anyways, I don't know. I just stopped doing the things I used to do when I would smoke... like at work on break, I'd go on break in a different section than I did before. I started to do different things. Worked for me.

Stop building it up in your head and just quit. If you really want to stop badly enough you will. Don't make excuses and ween yourself off, just go cold turkey, stop buying packs of cigarettes. Realize just how incredibly bad they are for you and that they don't do a thing other than give you a false sense of comfort. If you want to stop smoking, STOP SMOKING.

That is so good to hear! All the best.
FWIW I'm still quit since Jan 1. Everyone trying, it does get easier but it takes time and nobody wants to hear that.

I make no claims on scientific veracity of this statement:

I read somewhere that long-term smoking constricts the penis, making it slightly smaller. Quitting allows more bloodflow and reverses this.

Now, THAT is what should be on those warning labels.

They should just have a picture of kate upton in a bathing suit saying, "I don't like smokers"

0 male smokers left in the USA.

Well my wife and I had stopped smoking for 3 months. But then work was stressing her out (military) and me being with her got me into smoking again.. :/

That sucks. But at least you know you can do it and can try again under better circumstances.

I am right at the three month mark (stopped in early May). So far so good but it isn't easy - especially after a meal or with morning coffee.
