The v6 will win haha. Raced my father in his 88 vette and we were even until 3rd gear. Then I got the jump.

These modern V6's are not like the old 231 odd or evens. Hell they put out damn near the same HP as an LS1.

I know it was your personal opinion, and all aside I really like the Mustang.
I just don't know what came over Ford to screw up the rearend like they did.
No zl1 wud thumb their nose at me. Especially once I go stroked and blown with a f1x.

I'm gonna have to go with the corvette on this one. Unless it's a high mileage one that's tired, it should be able to pull pretty well. I drove an '89 'vette a couple times before I had my camaro and that SOB pulled pretty hard, haha. It was an auto too, so I didn't expect as much. And nooooo I don't mean to trash autos, I just feel the pull in cars better in a manual, so the 'vette caught me off guard.

As far as owning one, that's a hard one. Price-wise, I'd go for the C4. It'd be cheaper and I'd have more $$$ to modify it to my liking.

Yes, you do need to say more, actually.

I'm pretty sure there are many more cars that need to figure in to your equation and would upset your assertion of "A new V6 Camaro is a nicer car than 95% of what most Americans drive, what drugs are you on"

95% is way high.

I'm impressed with my car now if it beats an 89 vette like that.

Wow. Thank goodness for engineering.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, I've been on this site long before I had a Mustang. You see I don't define myself by the car I drive. So to you, you think I'm a "Mustang guy" to me, I am a car guy.

When I joined this site, I was strongly considering the new Camaro, and I owned a Pontiac G8 GT, I've since went through a few other cars. Some were GM some were Ford. None of which define me as a person.

But the whole idea of this Forum is for Camaro Enthusiast... I understand you considered it but you didn't buy one ? I understand car guy cause I am one myself, but I don't go joining Ferrari forums cause I do not want to be a poser... nothing against you as a person, I just see a lot of flack from NON-CAMARO owner's in this forum..

You view this forum as being for Camaro Enthusiasts.. I, and the many others, view it as being a car forum. A Car forum where Camaro owners are the main topic. I like the 2010+ Camaro, therefore I joined. I owned a 2002 Trans Am WS6 and was sad when the Fbody died. I anxiously awaited it's return, and found that being a member on this site, was a good way to keep up with what's going on with the Camaro owners, and the details about the car.

If I were on here with nothing ever positive to say about it, and just trolled every topic, then I could see why you'd question my presence, but a quick review of my previous posts and you'll quickly learn that I genuinely like the new Camaro along with it's rivals.

I'm a member (or have been a member) of numerous forums none of them typically have a problem with my participation in forum discussions.

Also the Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers, and even Corvettes to a certain extent are a certain class of car, and the owners, (unless they are major blow hard fan boys) appreciate the competition, and enjoy discussing and comparing these cars at length.

If they didn't enjoy the discussing other cars, you wouldn't have an entire section designated for Camaro VS _______ or "Other cars".

I don't own a Camaro, so I don't spend a ton of time discussing the HP increasers or body kits, I stick with the topics that semi-pertain to a subjective opinion.

As long as I've been into Car forums (since about 1999) I've never been a member of a forum that was exclusively only for people who own a specific car. Quite the contrary most welcome the diversity. And I've been an active member of probably 10+ car forums, and a lurker of probably 10 more.

I'm a former mustang owner and am now a very happy camaro owner. I also start a lot of debate occasionally as well. I'm also not sure why there are so many mustang owners on a camaro forum but some of them aren't bad at all. Others however seem to be just here to instigate trouble.

We love our Flex (I just wish it had the ecoboost engine- the Standard V6 is weak for such a heavy vehicle.

Again, just was asking why there were so many, not questioning you as an individual at all, and no need for the resume of forums and years spent. But if we are measuring jocks here, I have you beat by about 10 years. I just have never seen a forum (A model and make specific forum) be as open as it is..

Now back to the lecture at hand ..

I have not raced a 80's model vette yet but have taken out a couple of LT1's and I beat a BMW 335I last night.. I had no idea those things were twin turbo'ed either !!

just an observation

sometimes these threads make me think that the average age of he forum member is less the 30, when testosterone helps overload everyone so the slap talk crap. Stuff like that split the forum on 3SI.org; where I've been for years, ( as I stlll own a 3000GT VR4.)

If everyone would stay on topic and keep their ad hominem attacks to themselves others would enjoy the forum more.

And if you're a Ford guys (I too owned two mustangs), then go to the Ford forums to bash Bowtie's; and let the Bowtie guys have their fun.

I agree that some folks get on here with the intent to stir things up. It isn't just Mustang guys. As a matter of fact, most of the Mustang guys that hang around for a while are usually very interested in our Camaros. I may not always agree with what they are saying, but they don't say it in a disrespectful or trollish manner. I'm cool with that.

It is usually pretty memorable to beat a corvette when you have a so-called "lesser" car. It was for me. I beat a C5 LS1 Corvette with a bolt-on '05 Mustang GT in the 1/4 mile about 5 or 6 years ago and I still remember it clearly. Except that in the OPs case the Camaro is by far the better car overall compared to a mid C4 vette.

Anyway, it turned out the vette was an all-stock convertible with a 4-speed automatic with the standard 2.73:1 differential ratio... literally the slowest version of a 5th generation Corvette you could buy, but damned if I still wasn't excited about beating it all the same. Especially with "just a Mustang".

Though that experience didn't stop me from getting a corvette eventually ha ha.
