i have the rub marks above both doors, and holes starting behind the quarter windows where it gets pinched. TSB gave me waves on both sides now, and more wind noise than before it was performed. i am trying to get a whole new assembly/top as we speak, or until it ends up getting bought back by GM (ive started that case already too because of other issues in addition to the top)

We took delivery of our new Vert today. I must say it looks great, Becky showed us about raising and lowering the top and how to install the tonneau Cover, it was easier to do that I had been led to believe. After we finished all the paperwork we left and headed towards Indianapolis. We drove almost 250 miles most of the time with thetop down. we did put it up twice along the way when we stopped at a Walmart to pick up some things my wife needed, and to eat at a Steak and Shake. I examined the top closely each time and it still had no marks or wrinkles. I know it has only been one day but I am hoping after all the trouble Becky and her body shop manager went through inspecting the fitment and operation of the top that it will be ok.
so far so good.

I have minor ''rub'' marks and wrinkles and a little looseness in the sail area on this replacement top but the 5 broken bows were a killer on the original top!

So far, so good

Well we have driven over 700 miles since Monday mostly with the top down. We have cycled the top 12 times and I must say no rub marks or wrinkles are showing so far. I hope I just didn't jinx us LOL.

1900 mile report

At 1900 miles most with the top down and around 40 top cycles all is still well.

Lol you feel every rub mark or wrinkle is a problem then you need to look at all other convertibles with this type top material. I bet you will see that it's just not a Camaro only thing. Every rub mark or wrinkle will not turn into a hole. That is why just because you have a rubmark they will not do anything until there is actual damage to the top.
There is also another pole on here about how satisfied are you with the looks of your top, that one is running 50-50

ive owned 6 verts including this one, and never had any problems like this before. my mechanism cut a hole in the top behind the quarter window at 2833 miles. im not an idiot, and i know the difference between a wrinkle, a rub mark, and a HOLE...

oh and looks like 15 to 46 now.. and climbing

You interpret it the way you want to see it as a pessimist and I look at it as an optimist. So we will just have to disagree on the numbers.

Look, "themoneypit" is posting on another threat to make the issues look bigger! You are up to 109 post...find 6 more in the next hour...post twice on each one, and you will be over 120 on here instead of working to get your issue repaired!

I know you are not counting the 26 for "rub marks and wrinkles" as issues to get to your 46 number? If so, I can see why you are not satisfied...I guess when the clear plastic bag they put your dry cleaning in has a crease...you take your dry cleaning back and make them iron the bag?! LOL

Reality is the 15 is closer to 20 but thanks for taking your time to do math with us.

i could care less about my "post count" as apparently you do... if you you would see i have holes in my top, and not just marks. i could live with marks in the top, and i know wrinkles are common on a convertible top, as i said ive owned 6 to date but apparently you cant or you would know that. this was his "poll" and i just stated the obvious. i believe most that have just wrinkles are voting satisfied, no problems, because we arent idiots. im sure the ones voting rub marks are the ones that have marks that do not wash off when you wash the car and are leaving permanant wear marks in the fabric. so go ahead and re-post and you might get to 356 post count woohoo for u...

I haven't yet voted in my own pole because I am waiting until I have the entire summer of using my car before passing Judgment myself. I will probably be one of the people that use theirs more than others because every time I go out in it and the weather is cooperating I will be driving with the top down. I also tend to put more miles on my cars than others do.
I have already put the top down twice today but now that the temperature is hovering near 100 it may be late this evening or tomorrow morning before I put it down again.

Why so crabby?

I'm puzzled why people who are happy with their Camaros are so belligerent toward unhappy Camaro owners. Even in the Pollyanna Thread.

Is it the -bad press- the unhappy owners post, potentially scaring away buyers? Or are the happy owners, down deep inside, worried that their Camaros may have similar problems in the future?

I see no reason for all this acrimony among like-minded car fans. We get enough flames and sh!t-stirred by trolls passing by; no need for us to attack each other.

I'll wager that less than 30% of all Camaro owners nationwide even join these Forums.

Those who come here have two main reasons... (1) Find out about the latest Mods and (2) Look for solutions to problems that have appeared in their cars.

This a valuable network for car problems, even if the best solution is to sell or trade the trouble-maker. A mutual-admiration society has its limits on the Internet. For that, put down the keyboard and join an outdoor Car Club.

Looks to me the unhappy owners are crabbier and want the happy owners to have the same problems they are having just to prove a point. I don't wish anyone on here to have problems with their cars, those that think everyone is having the same issues they at are just plain wrong. I saw the same things in the threads about V6 cars with squealing Brakes. Many assumed they all either had them or would get them. Mine never did. I was told several times just wait you will see, just as I am now being told about my top.
I am hoping ever owner finds satisfaction in their purchase. As an optimist I see people getting problems addressed and fixed where the pessimists on here just want to cry and complain about how wrongly they are being treated.

At the risk of sharpening this to too fine a point, I agree that unhappy Camaro owners are pretty doggone crabby...especially when problems persist after prolonged and repeated visits to the dealer.

It's happy folks like you who should take the high road and not be troubled by others' rants.

I'm puzzled why you started this Poll at all, since you have no problems. Why do you care? Are you applying for the job of Customer Service?

Practice what you preach in your signature: go out and enjoy top-down driving. There's no reason to go fishing for people to submit their problems and then criticize them for venting (in any thread).

Schadenfreude has no place in this community.

I started this pole BEFORE I bought my Convertible for one thing (I had Just asked Becky to start looking for one ). Another is I thought it might be helpful to others trying to make the decision to buy without going through a bunch of rant posts. Obviously some failed to read the first post where I just wanted information and not rants about problems getting them fixed. You are one of them .

I do drive and enjoy my Camaro with the top down how do you think I have gotten 2000 miles on it in less than 2 weeks.

Before criticizing someone's motives for starting a pole maybe you should do a little self examination of yourself. For someone so paranoid about the tops you refuse to put it down is unbelieveable. I am sorry if this pole offends you but if you don't like it then don't participate. By the way it was so considerate of you just to quote part of one sentence out of my post. That way you don't see why I feel the way I do right now.

Let's make a deal, all the happy owners stay out of commenting in the problem rant threads and those with problems stay out of commenting in the happy owners threads.
And please before commenting read the OPs first post to see what he is asking for before posting. That would solve a bunch of bickering.

Thanks, do you have issues with your top? If so how long did it take for them to show and about how many top cycles had your top been through. I am wanting this type info so I can gauge when and how I could expect problems to show up with my top.
Thanks in advance,
Tim

2011 Purchased new April 25, 2012 (VIN: 2G1FT3DW0B9188330)

925 miles when dropped off at dealer 20 days ago for water leaking to the area under the back seat on both sides and collecting in the floor pans.

My dealer sucks and has not been keeping me informed very well. I know they have done the service bulletin for the holes. Mine did have typical wear dots and v's in that spot above the door windows. I got that done early on before I discovered the leak.

The 5th bow repair was done to my knowledge within the last 20 days in an attempt to address the leak.

They are now waiting for the newly revised water bag and field engineer visit.

I am 95% sure I will be getting a new top too due to my persistence with my district manager.

As for the number of times I've cycled it I would guess 20...didn't keep track.

My dealer claims to have kept the car inside until they sold it but the owner of the dealership drove it for 199 miles before I bought it. There were maple tree helicopter seeds in the vert top storage area so I don't think it spent the majority of the time inside. Also, they said to me that they keep Camaros and Corvettes inside for repairs. I just drove by the dealership and my f'in car is outside without being completely fixed for water leaks. I am less than happy with DOYLE CHEVROLET of Webster, NY right now. They lie. I just wrote my GM district manager a letter demanding a meeting with him and Mike Doyle.

Thanks for the info. I know many dealers lie and try to skirt around problems, it can be very frustrating. I have had a few rounds with a dealer over two different Jeeps I bought new, both had transmission problems and built 4 years apart. I ended up trading both. One for a 79 Camaro and one for a 84 Celebrity. Both of those were trouble free as long as I owned them.
