trying to install rear led sidemarker..

I can't figure how to get to the rear side lights.. I took off the one bolt in the inner fender. Is there anything else I'm missing ?..

OK.

1) Lie down with your head even with the end of your exhaust tip.

2) scoot closer to the car until your shoulder is right underneath the rear quarter panel

3) move your arm straight up, you'll feel the side marker.

This! It is a little tight to get up there but it's possible. If you can't fully reach you can also use a flathead to help you pop the sidemarker out. Once it's replaced, you can use it to help make sure the clip is fully clipped in.

Hope someone checks this again. Iīve tried all three possibilities. First, I can not get that bolt off. What size is it? I have many, many different wrenches and socket wrenches and none can fit in there, the bumper is in itīs way. I might not have the correct size.
Second, my arms are just too muscular to get up next to the muffler . I might have to wait to change that sidemarker until I get a new exhaust which will still be a few weeks from now :(
Third, Iīve read about people reaching it from the trunk. Iīve tried that, but I do not look right onto the sidemarker. Thereīs something in front of it (yes, even after removing the carpet and the black plastic "screw). I can see the wires going in, but thereīs like a plastic cover that I canīt get through or around. I took pics but they only show something gray and a wire that goes somewhere. My car is a 2011 2ss, is that any different than other cars?

Any ideas?

Dont go from the trunk go from under the car. Lay down and look up where the sidemarkers are and you'll see the gray tabs you have to press in.

Ditto to all that said lay down - it'll be tight and maybe even just out of reach - suck it up and get your arm up there and pop it out.

This is the easiest way - much simpler than peeling back your bumper.

Thanks for the answers guys. Iīve tried all of these things. I got all the way to my wrist trying to go the underside-route..lol. I have pretty big arms.

I could see the tabs from underneath, just had no chance of getting even halfway there.

I guess I got to try again.

Use a flathead screwdriver wrapped in a towel. That's why I did as I'm in the same dilemma as you lol.

I removed the little bolt where the bumper meets the body, pulled the bumper out until three clips popped loose, reached in and removed the marker light. Took all of 15 minutes for the back.

The right side is harderd then the left for some crazy reason. I have the same issue when I did my dtrl worth AAC hardness. I could not get the front right maker to sit back in.

That was my first route. Problem was that I could not reach the bolt. None of my equipment fit, bumper was in the way. I would have had to bend the bumper to get my wrench socket (or whatever itīs called) to hit the bolt,

Not sure what bolt your talking about. The bolt I took off is at the corner of the bumper just inside the wheel well. 9/32 if I remember correctly. Plenty of room unless your running a wider rear wheel.

I think that bolt is actually a T15 or T20 Torx head. Once removed just give the bumper a gentle tug to release the clips holding the bumper on, and the sidemarker will be right there. Took all of 5 minutes. And don't worry, you won't break anything (it just sounds like you are).

I got the correct equipment and the install was easy. I thought I had used the correct equipment, but the base of the socket was too wide, thatīs what caused my problems. Took me no more than 5 minutes installing both the rear ones.

Thanks for the help guys!
