LLT tune for 100/110 octane??
So I have been bouncing the idea around in my head wondering if anyone has ever tried tuning the LLT for 100 or 110 octane? With our compression ratios and ability to run serious timing I would think it may offer some gains. Anyone have any knowledge as to if it has been tried and if not is there any reason it would potentially not work?

Iwould think this is a wasted effort and $$$$ with tuning an engine for using that hi of an octane rating it does not need

There is an E85 tune available already. It provides a pretty good bump in power and is cheaper than race gas. You might want to look around to see if it is available in your area.

The DI LLT & LFX certainly will show more power if tuned for higher octain unlike the lower compression LS3/L99. At 11.3-1 CR there is room to use a higher octain fuel...E85 or unleaded race gas. Not economical at all, but the beauty of these DI motors is they can run fine on 87, run better on 93, and room for E85/race gas. Any 9/10-1 will not...it would be a waste.
We run 14-1 CR on our race motors with methanol or 116 race fuel. The ECU will detect the knock and pull timing efficiently so thats why 87 is acceptable due to the efficiency of the Direct Injection. On a port injection this is not possible.

All good info and feedback, I should have started out by saying I realize that race gas is on the high $$ side, but it wouldn't be something I would run daily, just for the weekend play days at the track.

gretchen is right. i saw a HUGE bump in my TQ and overall HP on E85. if you have it locally then it would be the best route to go IMO. logged over 3,000 mi's with no issues when i was running it. plus there are a lot of benefits from E85 vs 100-110 race fuel. as mentioned, 1. price 2. advance in timing 3. runs cooler (less likely to melt a piston) 4. smells awesome! the only down side i found was availability but it if is an option it is DEFINITELY worth looking into.

E85
Strong downside is the corrosiveness of E85. It will eat up your soft parts....not worth IMO. Go for the hi-octane fuel - if available in your state, instead.
