I recently went with SLP long tube headers with their high flow cats. I have the Borla ATAK cat back exhaust. I love it.

When adding headers to a supercharged application a lower psi in boost will be seen, BUT is easily remedied with a pulley swap to make additional power through volumetric efficiency. Stainless Works willl have a ZL1 here very soon to verify header fitment.

Well, the boost drops but what happened with the power(if tuned properly)
makes me wonder why you would even put headers on If you need the pulley to make up the lost boost...

as mentioned before, you can make more power with lower boost. Boost is only a measure of resistance/pressure in the intake system. It is not the same thing as CFM or amount of airflow.

Who cares if you have 20 psi of boost if the next guy makes more power with 10 psi because his engine intake and exhaust systems are that much more efficient. Besides, more boost means more heat, which also means less power.

The only reason to swap pulleys to maintain boost is because the motor can take it, and if it can take it ("it" meaning cylinder pressures), then why wouldn't you do it? More boost does mean more power as long as it isn't too much due to heat or engine durability.

Bottom line, headers make the system more efficient and you will still make more power even if there is a little less boost.

Thanks for the reply!
I don't recall ever seeing a dynochart with before/after results with headers only on a sc car...

There are other threads about my results so I don't want to go through it again, but I will get it dyno'd again locally to see what I have.

Wish I could give you a better answer but there was a lot of confusion over the dyno chart I posted and I didn't want to go back and bother SLP about it since it doesn't really matter to me. I can feel the difference and I love the sound.

As soon as I get to a local dyno day event, I will post the results.

From our testing, LT's are worth about 13-15RWHP with a .6psi drop in boost pressure......worth it in every way when adding a QUALITY set of LT's like Stainless Works or Kooks

Nice mod! A bit more power. Less boost - less heat. Except that the LT's will render your ZL1 emissions illegal :\

Keep an eye out here for headers and other parts from SLP for the ZL1

Here is the only Dyno sheet I have right now. I should have others and more information at a later date.
