Think it's loud now..

Just dropped the keys off for the poly mounts and one other thing. $275 because I can't get shop time; Club Car put out a bulletin that said 'Tear down all engines on such and such models due to E10 fuel based failures'. E10 = 87 octane, our fuel of choice.

And lo.. all of our carts fell in the serial range so the shop is swamped until at least september. :/

Those wheels look great on the car. How's your build been going? I had been following it over on lsxnation.

Thinking about 315s but again, can't find a track/street compound that I feel confident slapping on the rear (something more for road course than strip use).

Also, just finally cured and I'd say it's only 75% done, gonna have a pro pinstriper/guy that brought the car back from the dead take care of the bird with OEM paint. In the mean time, gonna run it without clear and just bolt it in this afternoon when I get the car back from mounts. Plug that ugly ass hole in my intake with something more appealing.

I don't know how many miles you are looking at getting out of a tire, but I love my Nitto NT05 (road course, not DRs) with the air pressure as 28F/25R.

No I haven't, kinda looking to get 30k out of the rears and 50k-60k out of the fronts. Not expecting that much but I want them to last at least 2-3 summers/car seasons. Pz900a I have now probably have 15-17000 on them and hardly any real tread wear.

Bump for

GM + non GM motor Mounts = "we just threw the shop price book out the window with this one.."

Pretty sure a good portion of the shop is off at the bar because of Prothane. May be worth the pain but man I should drop a case of Coors off along with whatever we agree on as a fair price "For compensation of the pain and suffering and the cost of a new swear tupperware 9 gallon tote.. because we needed a bigger swear jar."

Having issues with the motor mounts? I can't install mine right now cuz I can't get the damn driver's side head off of the Y-pipe. Oh well, I don't have a jack to get the car high enough off of the ground anyway. Headers are easy to unbolt so I'll just take care of them next time I have access to a lift.

Can't get the header off the Y? Clamp stuck? Interference fit? Could always heat the pipe with a little propane torch just enough and whack the Y with a rubber mallet; should wiggle itself free when it's softened just a bit. That's how they got mine to stick up in there.

As for the mounts..

No trans jack, gave up, sent it down to the pros.. and they're having issues. Hence why the:

"We'll just pick a number close to the estimate and just pay that.. we'll get it back together somehow.."

God us all.. the motor mounts from hell.

Aaaand.. it's done. For some reason a tab on the Prothane mounts was stamped wrong and needed grinding and the rate book burned.

$415 out the door for.. 12+ hours of work over 3 days. F'k the 4 hour estimate (but that's all they charged plus 100 bucks to come to 415)

Jesus. F'king. Christ. My car is a whole different visceral animal now. I can actually feel each shift.. quite literally feel when the clutch uncouples and then hooks back up.. almost every mechanical link in the driveline chain can be felt through the seat.

And all from a change of mounts.

I.. I think I'm tearing up with tears of joy.. *sniff*

It's just stuck on there, not due to the clamp. I'll just tackle it another day, I don't have the time this weekend to add it to the list. Still need to install the Oil pump, Timing cover, Crank Pulley, Heads, Headers, Intake, Trans Crossmember, and all the little odds and ends.

Sounds like a PITA for those prothane ones. I hope mine go on easier once I actually do them.

No two sets are 100% alike, but the process itself is the bitch. Never goes to plan and a die grinder/Dremel is a requirement..

Catch can on order!

First, awesome sound track. Hehe

Burnout, hold the brake with your heel and gas with your toe (or if you are a freak like me, left side of your right foot on the brake and the right side on the gas). Rev it up and drop the clutch. Do a quick burnout if you are on street tires and a longer on drag radials.

Launch looked good, try a higher rpm until you just barely spin off the line.

Shifting, see Steve's video or take the class offered by Steve or myself. Practice practice practice. What shifter do you have?

Thanks! Dunno about you, but at Norwalk.. we drag race to 80s synthpop elevator music! Someone needs to catch one where they put on "Never Gonna give you up" and some wannabe badass cammed car redlights.. rickrolled off the line!

Video doesn't do it justice (my iPhone vid is the closest imo but even then the real thing can never be captured!), Derek kept saying it sounded good all night till I got bounced out by some f'ker in a cougar who was more consistent and won the round.

I'm running the stock Hurst but I've added a 6.5" short stick, feels like a gated shifter and a few that drive it often swear that it's something other than the BBS RPO shifter.

While shifting isn't my concern (I'm pretty confident now with it), it's just getting it up there to around 5.5 consistently to shift it because that's where I'm feeling it plateau on 1-4. That.. and trying to keep the car centered and a whole bunch of other shit on top of the "OMG I'm racing on the track again.. ohfukohfukohfuk!" Need to loosen up a bit nerve wise.

I was letting the car sit, held the clutch, and just lightly rolled on the throttle; it's been a while since I've done a drag launch and I was trying (on the fly) find that sweet spot where the clutch would stick, but let loose once you dropped it. She hooked like a fothermucker all night and when I switched up a few things on run two, got a 14.7 out of that with a .6xx RT but my 60 foot was 2something still. That's my issue: 60 ft.

Just need to climb the tach more on the hold before the drop.

Did a little tonight too (still need to scout some place that isn't crawling with soccer moms and kids on a sunday night!) Odd thing though, she's feeling a bit heavy and sluggish with harder launches. 1st gear is all but useless now aside from traffic. Good punch but around 3-4K on the 2-3 shift she gets a dead spot before boogieing to redline like nothing's wrong. Not bad on 3-4. May be a tuning thing.

You hear/notice anything on those shifts Derek? I could kinda hear it in the vid but you were watching from the line so..

That shifter sucks. Time for a new one. Either a pro 5.0 or b&m ripper. I know the b&m automatically lines up the 2 to 3 shift, just push fwd.

You have dyno'd your car, correct? I don't know about anyone else, but I shift right a 6k rpms.

Just get quicker at shifting and practice getting you 60 ft down and you will be good to go.

BTW, what was your mph?
