Thanks for the update. I talked to the mechanic, Tom, today. He called me to ask about the water pump and whether to use the stock one or an aftermarket one. I know several guys have reported issued with the stock water pump, so I gave him the ok to use a new one. He also told me he got the head gaskets in earlier this week and he is now assembling the engine. I know once Tom gets going on something he can get it done quickly and it will be done right. I am going to go over to IPS tomorrow to get some pictures. I'm excited to see the progress! |

Heads are on and Meziere water pump.
![]() ![]() ![]() We set the intake manifold on the engine to get an idea of what it will look like. It's still wrapped up in plastic because it's been polished and the fuel rails are being anodized black, so they aren't on it yet. It will be mounted on the engine next week and I'll get better shots then. But this gives you an idea of how it will sit on the engine. ![]()

Q to the motor guys? Does the LSX block use the lifter trays/buckets like a normal LS3? I think it is the same, my plan was to have HKE drill 1/2 in holes about 1/3 the way up the lifter trays on the head side to aid in oil drainage back to the pan. You 1320' guys/gal probably dont care but i plan to road race this car mainly and i have a REAL sticky suspension/wheel/tire setup and should sustain 1.3G in long sweeping turns at ECR and need to keep the motor lubed. Sorry T, dont want to thread jack but there are a bunch of big LS motor heads lurking here.
Oh and did I mention, I'll be in my bunk!..nice engine pron!

Will you have track time before Camaro fest? If it was me I wouldn't rush it on to the track. As much as I know you want to. Take your time and ease into it. There will be plenty of track time in the future. When you push things....well, that's when mistakes happen. Continued gd luck and progress T.

I hope to have it a couple of weeks before the Fest. Mark Carlyle (Atomic Fusion) has said he'd give me some lessons as well as some of the other guys at the shop. We are likely going to keep the boost down the first few times out until I start to get the hang of things.

it appears it should fit into the engine bay quite easily. Now closing the hood, that may present an issue.
Looking good Emma!

The tech measured everything very carefully. The intake was made to order and is supposed to fit under the stock hood.

Any of you ever buy a race suit from Profoxracing.com?
I don't have a race suit and they are impossible to find in womens sizes at a reasonable price (I found one for $1400!). I guess I should probably have one of these for Indy. Or should I just get thrown off the track if I go under 11.5? (Dream on...) |

I'm just playing devil's advocate here, and in no way wishing this upon you or Smaug - but what happens if it doesn't fit. I can't imagine IPS making you foot the bill for their screw up.

I'm betting it will fit, it's a pretty common thing for shops to figure out hood clearance.
if it was wrong, Should be as simple as ordering a new intake... But that won't happen. sending positive vibes to Smaug!

Stopped by IPS today. The valley cover and crank case breather are on.
The rockers we had (LS3 - which are 1.7) are not correct for the All Pro heads. They ordered LS7 rockers (1.8) which are correct. They will arrive today and Tom will then measure for the pushrods. He will order those today. He also ordered the shorty headers today. The stock exhaust manifolds will not fit with the All Pro heads. Tom is taking Thurs. and Fri. off. The push rods and headers will all arrive by the time he gets back from his vacation on Monday. Here are some pictures. Crank case breather and valley cover. ![]() With the intake manifold set on the engine... ![]() ![]() Picture of the rockers. The wrong rocker (LS3) is on the left and a correct LS7 rocker is the one on the right. ![]() And just a couple of shots of the engine with the intake unwrapped so you can have a better look at it. The fuel rails have been anodized black, but aren't in the pic. I have also asked them to polish the power steering bracket to match the intake. ![]()
