Vararam OR Injen Longtube?
Alright guys, I know this is an exhausted topic.... But I need help with choosing. I really like the Injen but i've been told that because I live in South Florida, there's a chance that my my car may hydro-lock due to the filters position. Have any of you had this problem? What are the pros and cons of both systems?
BTW its a V6! Thanx Guys

I've only heard of one or two people that have actually hydro locked their cars because of it but it was because they did the install wrong.
Having said this, this was the reasn I personally didn't get it. Even though I live in south Texas which barely gets any rain, I got scared when last winter I had to drive through a substantial stream of water as it was the only way to my house. That scared me so much because i knew if that situation arised with me having an injen, something bad would have probably happened. I used to have an airaid and swapped for the vararam and love the decision I made! The vararam is a great intake! The airaid used to give out at like 70 mph and the vararam seriously keeps you planted in your seat the whole way. Plus the sound the vararam makes is so insane! It makes the car sound so mean! Just my two cents. If u have any questions, feel free to pm me.

i also live in Texas (Houston) i love my Injen easy install and i've driven it to New Orleans more than a few times for Work in Heavy rain. The kind where you have to go 30 MPH cause you can barely see the guy in front of you on the freeway. I never had a problem with it, honestly i never even thought it would be a problem at the time. it is kinda up there in the engine bay Behind your wheel well plastics. So the water flinging off your tire never touches it. The sound it makes when you take off is awesome i love it. It makes you sound like you have a Turbo (sort of) and i am glad i purchased it. as long as you don't try to barge your camaro through a pond or big ass puddle you really shouldn't have anything to worry about it does have a rain skirt which is basically a windbreaker material sleeve to get most of the water off i'm just saying if you use common sense while driving you wouldn't have a problem.

i had the long tube kit...caused my car to misfire on 2 seperate occasions...both during torrential rainstorms...i sold it to a guy who doesnt drive in the rain and bought the BBK short ram intake....fits the color scheme of my car and virtually the same gains

I have a Injen longtube and also live in Florida. And I have t2 ports and the cone sits right behind one of the ports. Buy a $20 hydro shield and it will not hydrolock period. I've had mine on for over a year and not a single problem. And like I said I can actually see the cone from just looking at my front bumper thru the ports. I wouldn't get any other CAI. I love it. Also this is my daily driver so I've driven it thru everything u can imagine

I have the Injen Longtube. No problems whatsoever and it performs great!
![]() I also had a Vararam, PITA to install if it even fits due to the many early fitment issues and don't forget the clamps deformed the airhorn where it butts up against the TB. Performance was great, but QC and materials used to make it IMHO not so much!

Having experienced and dynoed all intake style, my bet would have to go to vararam! Can't beat the short tube length for immediate throttle response, and ram air effect pass 80mph!

had em both and loved em both and honestly can't say there was a HUGE difference between one or the other. what may have seemed to make a difference between going from the Injen to the Vararam could have simply been air temps that effected my butt dyno. personally thought the Injen was the better looking of the 2 and had a cooler sound. put 20K miles on the Injen and NEVER had an issue. but at the same time i wasn't a pretending i was driving a party boat when the roads flooded. anyhow, you can't go wrong with either one...personal preference IMO.

I had my Injen for 17k miles and never had a problem. I had the hydro-sheild, and it worked great. As long as you don't let it sit in two feet of standing water, you'll be totally fine. I loved the sound and the look. Only reason I don't still have it is that I am now supercharged, and the SC kit has its own special long ran intake. Think I'll try to sell it at some point, but I would have definitely kept it if I could have.
