There are reasons to support the change and ones not to. But none of those reasons are due to some kind of performance conflict between a 5th Gen Camaro and the new C7.
It seems kind of boring to have two engine choices for all their performance cars. Easy for the company but limits what the customer can do.

They may have two designated displacements but think of how many different applications they will go into and the HP rating of each. Saves R&D money for after market companies and GM itself..don't forget however, I don't see a written rule that either one of these engines couldn't be supercharged like the LSA or LS9!!

That's what I am hoping for. The LSA and LS9 are a great example of what I am talking about. They are very similar but very different. If that is the approach GM is taking, I don't have a problem with it.

Not sure what you mean by 2 engine choices. Variants of the Gen V will eventually replace all the current Gen IV's LS3, L99, LSA, LS7 and LS9 depending on application.

I have a spy shot of what looks like a 1LE with a LS7 in it.
I will try and post a picture once it arrives.

Sweet. If it's nothing more than a one off type deal, it would still be an awesome car.

That's what I was trying to figure out. Is it going to be two engines or the two displacements with different components giving different performance? You get what I'm trying to say?

Yes expect a full family of Gen V performance based V8 engines to power the growing application needs from Chevy and Cadillac in North America starting for MY 2014.

They can easily take two engine displacements and make a wide variety of "different" engines to accomodate different need. For instance, in '67 the 327cid was available as 210hp, 275 hp, 300hp, 350hp and I think they still had the 365hp and 375hp versions also that year. In today's gen4 SBCs, there have been multiple versions of the 6.2L engine.

Engine options

Fellows i do'nt know where y'all read, that there would only be two gen V engines for the autos, because what i read said that there will only be two gen V V8 options for the trucks and that will be 5.3 and 6.2. My understanding is that the Corvette, Camaro will have the same no.of engine option as in 2013,but it will be the generation 5 engines.I could be wrong

While it would be nice it is highly doubtful in the 5th gen run. As for being the face of the company we need to get real here. GM just set a record breaking quarter of 1.3 million vehicles sold. Corvette & Camaro have sold less than 60,000 units combined for the entire half year. GM sold 14,000+ other vehicles per day.

Are you talking about the Z28 or the LS7 in the Z28?

Yes you could be wrong we are saying there will only be two engine displacements available for the Gen V in the V8 department..what they do for performance due to application is where the variants will be.
