POLISHED WHEELS VS. SILVER PAINTED

I bought my camaro almost like new (3k miles),the previous owner painted the wheels black.
I had the paint removed from wheels and polished ,it now looks awsome like a mirror.
My question: The factory polished wheels have a protection resin coating?
I used to own some centerline billet wheels (no coating) on the past, and used special cleaners and pastes (mother's), it worked fine...
tks.

Yes the factory polished wheels have a clear coat on them

If you polished them there probably isn't a coating on there anymore.

From what I understand, the factory polished are coated in ceramic. I tried to get a scratch repaired.... no one would touch it. That was from 2 shops in my area.

Tire place screwed up two of mine.Sent to a shop that does these. They strip of the clearcoat, polish damage if needed and re clearcoat.Mine were just scratched through the clear coat so they just re did it. Thing is rims on one side of the car look better then the factory clear coated ones on the other! May have him do the other two so they all match

try this out. I bought it and was going to use it on my polished rims after I stripped the piant off but got a deal on chrome rims

The shops I spoke with said the would sandblast off the ceramic, polish, and clearcoat. But they also said it would not be anywhere as durable as the factory coating. Can anyone confirm this?
