RX catch can 1,000 miles no oil?

Installed a RX catch can this spring after 1,000 miles I drained it*
And got nothing not one drop ? Not sure if this is good or bad!
Yes it's installed correct . I called the manufacture to Make sure.

I removed mine. All it did was leak oil everywhere. I had a different brand. Maybe you do not drive it hard enough.

After only 1k miles, you shouldn't have any major oil build up. I would expect less than a teaspoon. After 5k miles mine dropped out about 3 tablespoons, but I spend a lot of time in the upper RPMs.

I am on the fence about these things. I am not sure they r really worth it. I have read all the pros about them.

I put about 6k miles a summer on my car, drain the RX can at the end of every season and get like a 1/4 of a small water bottle out of it.. Maybe 4-6 oz... It's not a ton, but that's 4 oz of oil not coating my intake.. For the price and installation effort I think it's a good deal..

I installed a catch can at 3400 miles and was catching so much oil that the dealership replaced my valley cover. After the valley cover was replaced the amount went way down but there was still enough to be worth having. I'm at 40,000 miles now and after my last 7000 miles I only caught about a half ounce.

I took mine off and sold it. Ran it for a couple thousand miles and didn't see any results. The valve drainage valve somehow went bad and set off a check engine light. Company
replaced the valve, but by then I was over it. Replaced the valve and sold it.

Within the first 200 miles I installed it I drained it and had about 2oz. I checked it again about 500 miles later and nothing in the Rx CC. I now have 2200 miles.

I've had mine on for about 800 miles now and my car has been on the dyno with numerous runs along with the 800 street miles and I got about 4 drops worth, I am happy with that so far, I check down into the throttle body with my stethescope and nothing there so I guess that I am good

Unless you have a bad valley cover, you shouldn't see anything in just 1k miles.

I drained at my cam swap (2500 miles) got 4oz, I drained at oil change on Tuesday this week (8500 miles) and got another 3oz or so. That's in 6months...so cost wise, I'll take the peace of mind.

It is normal for the GM LS engines to pass oil to the throttle body, that is why a catch can is important, it has been proven numerous times. The difference is the catch can brand, there are a bunch out there, you just have to make sure that you purchase a good proven one. Mine collects around 2 tablespoons between changes, and I race my car on the track.

Need to order one already! I think they're worthwhile.

OP, don't be worried, that's a good sign.

The more brass threads showing = closed right.

???? If you check it you will see...does not matter if it has 200 miles on it, the issue is with every single LLT & LFX & LY7. Guaranteed.

It's your car and you can choose to not address it, but I guarantee you if you pull the TB off and look inside the IM (or better yet, pull the plenum cover off) you will see it full of oil. Have worked on hundreds of these over the years and not a single one did not have the issue, and in 2-3k miles your valves will look like this:

I see, you have the SS. Yes, top tier fule travels past the intake valves and does prevent deposits from forming and I would have to agree on that.....I was mistaken thinking you had a 3.6DI and there is no fuel touching the valves. But, the ingestion still is there and causing detonation and some mild power loss.

Pull your TB and look in the IM...I guarantee it has oil in it even though you are not seeing usage, and any oil in the combustion mixture will have a negative effect on the burn pattern and the amount of energy released per explosive event.

But you are correct on a port injection engine the fuel additives will help keep the deposits from forming unlike a DI engine.

The picture above is a DI motor.

And nice #'s for a cam....and I am impressed you (or whoever did the install) took the time to degree it....says alot about the knowledge in play.
