I have the v6 brakes (hawk pads) on the rear of my car and it does have a tendency to squeak now and then. I haven't really pinpointed it as to the conditions in which it happens but I will make note of it the next time it happens.

Hare Chevrolet did mine and I haven't had the issue or problem since. They said they lubed them and the initial problem didn't develope until May of 2010 when I was at IMS doing laps. I had the issue resolved last year before going back to IMS in May.

Good Luck!

Just throwing this out there...

My girlfriend read a article on how you can use vegetable oil to quiet noisy brakes. I thought she was nuts but I gotta tell you, I can not believe the results.

I have a 2011 LS Turbo and I went to the SS sized tires/rims. So I figured why not upgrade my rotors and brake pads at the same time. I had installed the Brake Performance Dimpled/sloted rotors and Hawk HP plus pads (I know they are going to be more noisy that other pads).

I bedded the pads as per manufacturers (Hawk) recommendations and it still had brake noise. I then bedded them in at twice the speed (60 Mph) and twice as many slow downs (10 Vice 5 ). Noise went away for a short period but came back. The noise was the same as a school bus, really. My car is a daily driver BTW.

I went to a local reputable brake shop and they covered all the metal parts in a ceramic high temp grease/lube. That worked for about a month.

So, in despair and after reading the article, I simply put 5-6 drops of vegtable oil on the top potion of the pad/caliper where it meets the rotor. So far it has been three months and no noise and no loss in breaking distance/power and has also kept the break dust down a bit. I didn't believe it but no kidding, it works. Not that this fixes the source of the problem but it definately alleviates' it.

Hey guys, I've been away from this thread for a while, I'm going to pick up where I left off and start adding people to the list again!

Again, contact Chevy Customer SVC on here! He can help set up a case number and get you started, I created a link in the OP.

Edit:

Wow, 100 people have signed up saying they experience these problems. Come on GM, let's get a FIX!

Mine squeak too! So embarassing. Only the left side I believe. Purchasing some new Hawk HPS pads and Disc Italia rotors in the near future in an attempt to solve the issue.

My V6 squeaks as well. It started at about 20,000 miles. I'm going to take it to the dealer soon to see what they can do.

Mine have squeaked since I got the car. I have had the dealership look at them only to be told "it's normal" and they couldn't replicate the issue. However; as soon as I drove off the lot, they started squeaking. They say the brakes look fine, but they sure don't sound fine. I was also told there is a TSB for the V8 brakes, but not the V6s. I had a case opened and nothing happened. I'm now out of warranty and my brakes are still squeaking. It is embarassing, that's for sure.

I have been having the same problem with the dealership I have been taking my car to. They say everything is fine and that it's normal. Mine squeak REALLY bad all the time and also when I am driving at slow speeds with my foot off the break. It's so bad that I can't drive with my windows down because it's so loud. Would the vegetable oil help or do I need to keep hounding the dealership?? I feel like I'm taking my car in there every week.

Not since I took mine in back in May of 2011. They lubricated them and they've been quiet every since. They told me it was typical of all Camaro and Corvettes for the brakes to do this but they would see if they can do something to quiet them down. Not sure what all they did but its none issue and when they did squeak, it was the right front always.

Put me on the list...my car has 18k miles on it and like many said most of the time when they are wet they squeak pretty bad. Very embarrassing for a basically brand new car. Done it for about 5k miles or so.
