LPE 3.70 Ring&Pinion: slight whining at 1'000 rpms?

I just got my Ring&Pinion installed (3.70 ratio for my 2011 Camaro L99)

I'm in the break-in-process since 15 minutes. I realised there is a very slight whining right between 1'000 - 1'100 rpm.

My installer says that a very very slight whinig at lower RPMs is normal. With 3.9s this would be even a little louder

Is a very slight whining in this range normal?

if pinon depth and backlash are set correctly there should be no whine......do a google search on setting up rear gears to learn more.

Tracy is right...while some aftermarket gear sets are noisy (mostly in the drag cars we've built that get beat on), a properly set up gearset should be quiet on the streets!

I have the same gears and they are perfectly quiet. Should not whine if set up right.

I have those gears...mine were quiet like stock. You have an install issue.

I would have someone else check them out. A properly set up gear from a good company like LPE should not make any noise. You should do this quick as a bad wear pattern can cause more noise in the long run.

After breaking them in for about 170miles there is still some slight whine.
It is exactly at 1'000 RPM - other than this the new setup is as quiet as the stock was.

Any chances this last bit of whine will go away after the full break-in distance (500miles)?

with the 9" kits we have sold most of the "break in" noise has gone away after the oil change. not sure if this will work on the stock diff but we have seen it allot on the 9"

With "break in" noise you also mean whining, right? So you think completing the break in process and changing the oil could help reducing the whine a lil?

If yes - which Oil would you guys recommend to reduce the whine as good as possible? I read a lot of good feedback about Lucas Non Synthetic 85-140 Oil.

Why not take it back to the installer.....when setup correctly as mentioned it should not whine at all, they do not whine from the factory ?????
