Although I feel like it must be going into 3rd early or something...

R/T has nothing to do with your ET.

I haven't ran that slow in so long that I will have to go back and look at some old time slips. J/K I would like to see what my old 1/8 to 1/4 difference was compared to yours to see if your top end is lacking a bit.

You can definitely improve your 60ft down to 1.95-2.00 and increase the shift rpm in the 3-4 shift to 6500 so you can cross the line in 3rd.

So, finally went for a custom tune. LIGHTYEARS better than that JRE junk.

Still stuck in the 13s, but down to 13.3 at 107 now. Lighter wheels, with 315s coming early next week, hopefully that will help. Still have a little lug in 3rd, but I have faith in my tuner. Gonna tweak a little more and get it perfect.

The next T&T isn't until early September, so until then here's video from last night. Satisfying...

LOL! Don't say that too loud on this forum.

Post the slip, or at least tell us what your 60' was on that pass. DA was similar last night to your previous 13.46@105.69 and I'm thinking that the 60' alone could have dropped you a tenth or two and picked up 1.5mph.

Did you get any before and after numbers with the new tune, or wasn't it done on a dyno?

Your wisdom exceeds your post count for sure LOL.

But a 10:1 A/F, and shifting like an 80s Cadillac? I only wish I'd known what a good tune felt like a year ago. The soot accumulating around my exhaust every 3 weeks should have been a red flag...

You obviously never logged anything to show Ted that it was that rich and shifting poorly. Ted always wants a log after the first tune to tweak it, he would never have a car that rich, I had several tunes emailed from him although I did switch to a local tuner, he tunes similar to Ted and the talk regular so it was more a convinence thing for me.

Dyno tuning followed by fine tuning on the street is the best choice for tuning.
Especially if you have more extensive modifications such as an aftermarket cam, gears, converter, etc.

Mail order tuning using data logging would be a second choice if a skilled tuner is not available in your area.

I'm not sure I would call about a .1 and 1.5 mph improvement lightyears better. Could it have been better air on the latest run or a better 60"?

.1 improvement in the 60" will equate to .2 in the 1/4.

My car is real sensitive to heat...I never leave the line with engine temp above 193-195 if i can help it...at 200-205 i bet i lose 40 hp and the car is a snail.I bet your best run of the day was your first run.

Just letting you know,if you run these cars on the track, make sure that you let them cool down. The ecm is program to reduce timing if the IAT reach 86f and higher which will reduce power.
Myself I change this setting because it helps to get a more consistent time, and more power, but the tune has to be safe to accept higher IAT's. Most tuners will not touch this table for safety reason's.
so those of you that are racing in 85f weather,I'm sure the ECM is pulling timing on you.

The stock ECM IAT table. If the IAT reaches these temps,
At 86F your loosing 2 degrees of timing
At 95F,your loosing 3 degrees of timing
At 104F to 113F,your loosing 6 degrees of timing
At 122F to 131F,your loosing 7 degrees of timing
At 140F,your loosing 8
At 149F,your loosing 9
And at 158+,your loosing 10

And if you IAT's are 59F and colder, the ECM starts to add timing.

So,the best place to race is in Canada for some quick ET's.......lol......just kiding....

My supercharged Avalanche Loves the winter time here..........

Cheers man!

The ZL1 came down with me. Was his first time racing, and that was his best pass of the night. Had a good time though, hopefully he'll bring the car out again soon!

"how cute"... Thats what she said.

All I have to go on is my personal experience. I don't have a laptop for data logging, and always got the feeling there was no time for me- unless I was in the market for some kind of a material sale.

Were I better funded, I'd have a blower too cool guy.

What all is done to your car, I tried reading your build thread but it has a lot of posts....

Your 1/8th mile is troubling, 82mph is about what I'd expect these cars to run in the mid-summer heat. I ran 84 in the 1/8th stock in good air FYI.

If you have headers, cai, hi flow cats I'd expect you to be in the 12's even at 3500 DA.

I've done some stuff to mine but it's for a magazine article but I'll just say that you should be much quicker.

Headers, 3" exhaust, Airaid cai... Lowering springs (1") and sway bars.

Been running in "s" every time, but it seems to take a few passes for the computer to learn that it's time to go fast. I drive in "m" every time I take the car out of the garage, which may not be aiding my times...
