Can I ask a stupid question... why would a higher idle be BAD for the engine
This stock idle setting is stupid low, its probley better for the engine for a bit higher idle that you can hear. The stock cam actually has a nice tone to it when its cold... what would it hurt to try if you dont have money for a cam yet, pretty much nothing... Just tying to help.

Not sure if it'd be bad for the engine, but I was told it would just waste gas.

So it sounds like there is no easy or inexpensive way to do this
It's not like it's a terrible sound or anything. I really like it when I get on it, it's just the darn idle. When I was shopping for catbacks, I didn't plan on tuning, so I wanted to hide that AFM sound. Corsa and Solo were pretty much the best choices for that. I also love that the Solo system is drone free, so not sure I'd wanna trade that just for an increase in idle volume. I think my real problem is that I've run out of easy mods to do, so I'm trying to find something to do to the car...anything to get my mod "fix."

Is this one really louder at idle though? I'm not motivated enough to spend a grand to replace a perfectly good catback, just for sound.
I actually had them on before and now I'm selling them. They were great, but my LTs came with their own high flow cats. Even with the Solo cats, the car was only louder at cold start and idle was about the same as now.

Compared to my magnaflow competition catback my flowmaster had a much more aggressive tone especially lowering the note and much more thunder.. my vid is flowmaster catback, no cats, longtubes with a 416cid.
