whos going to win?
Yes I know this is in the wrong area but Id rather get more V6ers opion than the V8 guys who just bash the v6.
Well im going against my friends vette. The last two times we were going to race it got rained out. Hes 100% positive that he has me beat but Im not so sure. My car. 2010 Camaro v6 Manual. Mods- OBX long tubes, res. X pipe and pacesetter exhaust, Spec CAI, hurst shifter, and trifecta tune. Im running with the steel 18" wheels. Curb weight 3,800lbs, 304 hp 275tq stock. His car. 1989 vet. 4 Speed auto. C5 wheels, CIA, cooler Thermostat, and a Performance chip. Curb weight 3,200lbs, 245 hp 340 tq stock (specs for a manual trans. couldnt find auto trans spec.) |

I'm pretty sure in 1989 manufacturers were still reporting net hp, not the exaggerated gross hp reported today.
So even though your outputs are fairly close, I'm afraid your buddy's got you due to his lower weight :(, but it's gonna be close enuff to be fun, and if his state of tune has slipped over time- well you just might pull it off!! Drive it like you stole it!

Simple answer... Your going to lose.
Higher torque and lower weight. Remember, torque wins races. You might get lucky and he botches the launch if at the track so I'd still try. Just don't be surprised at the outcome if he wins Those steelies are probably killing you since they weigh so much

Think it's going to depend on how much he picks up with those mods...
I found one spot that listed the 89 Vette as: 1989 0-60 - 6.2 1/4 - 14.8/97 Then I also found a 0-60 MPH at 5.4. So kind of hard to tell.. but I see people saying the STOCK 89 Vette was a 14 second car... High 13s on a good day... Found a couple of timeslips on Drag Times... couple of 14 second slips there... Could very well end up being a drivers race! ![]() Good luck! |

I've beaten a '79 Vette. '89... I dunno. I think he's got you due to weight but it could be a driver's race.
Good luck!

Drivers race, but like scrming said it really depends on what he picked up with his mods. That said, your wheels are HEAVY. I would look into a good set of wheels, the TSW Nuremberg's are lighter and look awesome.

They're all driver's races. Practice launching and shifting that stick and don't be afraid to heat those tires. It'll be the best thing you can do.

Good Luck and let us know the outcome. I personally think it is a Driver's race.
