To Upgrade or Not???
I have a 1LT that is not yet a year old but was thinking about upgrading to the 2LT. I'm not sure how the whole upgrade and trade in thing goes. Is it worth it to upgrade from a 1LT to a 2LT? Would I end of losing money? From what I can research a 2LT has heated seats, 19 inch wheels, boston acoustics and auxillary gauge cluster. has anyone did this and were they happy with the upgrade or really didn't see that much of a difference. By the way my 1LT is a 2012

If your gonna upgrade might as well go to at least a 1SS just .02. Good Luck!

Well I can't speak for swapping a 1LT for a 2LT, but I did just recently purchase a 2LT RS after deciding between a 1LT RS, both 2011's. I honestly love the 2LT for all the features it comes with: Bluetooth, Heads Up Display (HUD), I-Pod/Aux., Heated Mirrors, Heated Seats, Power seats, Auto-dimming driver mirror/rearview mirror, (sunroof with mine), 20 inch wheels. Between the two, I HAD to go with the 2LT. And if you go with a 2012 2LT, you'll get a back-up camera. It was a no-brainer for me, but it's really up to you whether you want the extra options or not. I really wanted all those extras because they were important to me.

Alot depends on the trade difference, you aren't gaining that much.

Not to a 2lt imo, you're gonna end up taking a hit
Might as well get a SS and call it a day

I just traded from a 1LT to a 1SS. To me if you wan't the features a 2LT has then up grade to a 2SS. Nothing like the power of the 6.2L

You won't really notice the wheels, you probably won't really notice the stereo, you can buy the gauge pack from the dealer and just plug it in, and heated seats--meh. Technically you can get aftermarket kits for those.
You'll probably lose your shorts going 1LT-2LT. As mentioned...now if you're looking at an SS...heyo! But the best financial advice is probably to hang on to what you've got for a couple more years. Enjoy what you bought....the V6 is a fun car. |

Those heated seats sound soooo nice. If I upgraded to a RS package for my 1LT, what would it include??

I would never buy a fully loaded V6 over a base model V8. IMO, to do so is just silly, luckily for me, I can’t afford either.
If you are going to "upgrade" it needs to be an SS to make any sense at all. I think too many people underrate the V6 as a fun car, just because it’s not a V8. As long as you are not expecting it to be something it isn’t (it’s NOT a muscle car..it’s a sport coupe), you can really enjoy the V6 version of the Camaro…I sure enjoy mine...but I did my research and knew what I was ordering. I drove the SS before deciding…it was awesome, and superior in almost every way…but it just wasn’t in the budget for me. If the money is right, then do it, but don’t bend over backwards to make it work if it isn’t in the cards. |

You get halos and HIDs (best reason to get RS imo), a lame spoiler, a painted shark fin (nice touch but not mindblowing), and painted roof ditch moldings, oh and tinted tail lights. I didn't get the RS and I'm happy but I did install aftermarket halos, and I'm going to retrofit HIDs at some point.

1LT = 1SS in options
2LT = 2SS in options So for people saying get a 1SS if your upgrading you missed the point... He listed heated seats, stereo and gauge cluster not to mention leather seating, HUD, etc... A 1SS does not compensate for those ammenities and this is a person who bought a 1LT to start I doubt a 2SS upgrade is available to him. All in all I would say keep the 1LT most all the upgrades of a 2LT can be done to a 1LT one by one as you build up extra money, as for heated seats unless its really cold in Georgia I wouldnt care for them too much, If I had heated seats id never use em here in Texas. |

Not worth dealing with a trade in to got form 1LT to 2LT. Either wait until you can get a 2SS or just add the stuff yourself.

No way. You'd lose a couple g's right off the top for the 'drive off the lot' depreciation. Keep your car and use the money you would have lost on the trade to upgrade yours to something you would like more.
IMO it would be very dumb to do that trade on a brand new vehicle. |

I agree with people who say no. Your going to lose at least a few grand in depreciation and with that money you can add a lot of the stuff your looking for. You can get HUD, the wheels, and a lot of the other stuff and you will probably end up spending less than if you took the hit from the trade

True. I appreciate all the responses. I was just entertaining the idea but don't think I would actually do it due to fact that I would definitely take a loss. I love my camaro but was looking at some of the features I might like to have on the higher end models. But I can also just add features one by one over time. Thanks

I noticed the stereo right off the bat when I went from 2LT to 1SS, the heated mirrors I never used since my Camaros never see winter.
Heated seats I miss, but I don't miss leather/vinyl, I miss the garage door opener.

Upgrade your stereo, buy some auxiliary gauges, and some cool aftermarket wheels. You could do all of that for less than an "upgrade."
