V8 Powered Yugo

Not mine, but who could resist this package. It could be anybody's new ride, but who is brave enough to buy it?

Looks like it needs a lot of sorting. Big flat spot in the carb, timing is off which causes the hard start, wheels sticking out looks lame, engine leaning to the right, noise, fumes, heat and danger of an open engine sitting right behind you etc, etc.

I'm surprised the car survived long enough to undergo the extensive surgery

Me too... I used to own one back in the early 80s.

I had it about six months and had it in the dealer's shop five times. On the fifth time, when the driver's seat back literally fell off while I was driving down the road, I took it back to the dealer (who also sold Chevys) and told them I was NOT leaving there with that Yugo... and I didn't.

So... I got rid of it quick, before it had a chance to kill me.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Yugos, I got a good laugh out of it. You didn't happen to get a Citation for the trade, did you?

Thank God, no. I actually got a slightly used Chevy Nova which, in the mid 80s, were Toyota Corollas with Nova badging. Good little second car.

As was said of the Corvair, "unsafe at any speed."

PalmerGA: Used to have a customer with one of those Chevy Nova's, he drove that thing into the ground.

strych9:I don't know about you, but I'd drive a 2nd gen Corvair

"This would be a cheap way to get into the drag race or drag strip scene."

....and get you killed!
