Camaro 2SS 2010 - About to acquire - Got some questions

Hi,
saturday i am taking a trip 2h30 driving far from my residence city to buy a Camaro 2SS 2010 black with white stripes and Manual transmission. WOOT! Turning 30 soon so it will be a new badass car, a new job and my 30th birthday, could'nt be better!

I have a couples questions for you guys:
1) What do you think of the stock exhaust sound? I have been watching many Youtube video but its pretty difficult to get an idea from a video. How the real thing sound compared to this video(which sound pretty loud with an aggressive tone). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNx5TjXbY74

2) While i was looking to buy a 426hp Camaro, the Garage(Which specialize in < 3years old used cars) claim strongly that the Camaro was a special order and push 485hp, unmodified and OEM Engine/Parts. I dont understand, is it even possible? Was it possible to put a special order for a more powerful engine? I understand the guy is a seller but he as a good reputation in the region actually.

3) Tips, Hints, things that you could suggest me before i officially get the car?

* Sorry for my english writing, i am a french Canadian, english is not my mother language.

Thanks in advance guys!

1. Most car/Camaro enthusiasts think stock is too quiet
2. From factory the Camaro SS V8 is either 400HP (L99 with automatic transmission) or 426HP (LS3 with manual transmission)
3. Read more of Camaro5.com

You will for sure need to do something with the exhaust.

The seller is on crack unless its loaded with some small SLP parts. Then it'd be stickered up and you'd know on sight. Other than that there is nothing special unless its been "Modded" and im sure its not special ordered. Depending on mileage I'd shoot'em 27k and deal from there. Not a penny more than 30k even with stupid low miles

1) stock is too quiet. An easy fix is a muffler delete. I have a muffler delete, and it only cost me $125. Just have everything after the rear axle replaced with pipes. You will still have 4 CATs abd to resonators, so it won't be too loud.

2) there was never an option for factory ordered more power. If its true that it's making 485, most likly it was done, aftermarket with an intake, and exhaust. If that's the case, the exhaust will be louder already and you won't need the muffler delete.

3) have someone run a Cardax report for you. The dealer might even provide it if you ask them.

I would highly recommend getting exhaust cutouts. I can open mine from 10% to 100% or simply keep the closed. Kind of like the best of all worlds. My SS sounds great with the cutouts open 50% but when you get that road "drone" on long trips you can simply close them.

http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/

My warranty ran out on my 2010 so I just had the engine tuned and I have 418RWHP with just a CAI and cutouts. Getting 485HP at the crank is not a big deal but getting that at the wheels will cost you money.

These cutouts between the exhaust manifolds and cats? Thats the only way I could see you coming close to 418whp with just those mods.

Get some headers and exhaust and it'll sound better (that's what I did at least). I also wouldn't spend more than 25k with 13s being on the road. I paid 27.5k for mine in may but had most the aftermarket things I wanted done like tune, exhaust, headers, rims, cai, etc

The audio in that video gave the stock exhaust a little bit more of a throaty sound IMO. It is close but I don't think it sounds as good as it did in the video.

It sounds like the GM upgrade exhaust. My 2SS came with it so I'm wondering if the guy making the video also has it but doesn't know it.

$35,000 CAN

This is the only one with Manual Transmission i was able to find under $38,000$ CAN, in the Ocean of Automatic Transmission Camaro's.

The price is fair here in Quebec/Canada, definitly not the most pricey and it is a fully loaded 2SS/RS. So i'm happy!

I paid 25 out the door for my 2010 2LT RS. It only had 6800KM on it and that included an extended warranty. 35 OTD isn't a bad price for Canadain.

Wow - its been a while since I heard a video for a stock LS3. Yes, as I remember that is very close to the tone of mine when it was stock. People put down the stock exhaust being too quiet and not sounding very powerful. I would agree that at warm idle it is a little quiet. But I always thought that under full throttle it sounded pretty good. However, like most folks on this forum - I've moved on from there and nothing about mine sounds or acts stock any more!

Good luck with your purchase and with resisting the mod bug once you have it!

Thanks for the replies guys!

I now own the Camaro SS, and clearly this car is way too awesome for me. It is like if i was some geek and that the car is strongly trying to transform me into some jerk superstar. Hard to explain how i feel, but its awesome!

As for the exhaust, the car has stock exhaust and it is way louder than the other Camaro SS i heard in the street. Is it possible that i got a different type of exhaust? Note: The car has only 5000 miles, so pretty much everything is brand new.

The car really has 485 Engine HP, when they ordered the car they placed an order for some Corvette engine parts/accessories for the LS3 to push it up a bit, the original price of the car was $67,000(CAD). And since it is manufacturer parts, all is still on waranty(Hell, it is found on the Corvette, so...)

Will try to post pictures soon.

I believe that the other Camaro SS might have been an auto. Autos actually turn off half of their cylinders so from 8 to 4 cylinder engine to conserve gas. What you probably heard was the auto running with only 4 cylinders.

I've never heard of any dealer doing that with Corvette accessories. Doesn't make sense to me honestly.

I totally understand that you are skeptic, i was too, but the guy who originally ordered the car is actually the owner of a Chevrolet Shop, that probably explain it a bit? Anyway, i saw the original invoice and my jaw dropped.
