I was watching the news on KPRC local 2 (Houston, TX) and they said "According to kbb used cars are selling close to the cost of a new vehicle of a similar model, avg used 2011 Camaro is selling for $126 less than a new 2012 model."

Sounds like a load, I know. I went to kprc's website but they don't have anything up yet. If they post an article I'll update this.

I don't think it is that tight, but I couldn't justify the difference of the used prices vs buying new. I found the same thing when we bought a new Traverse 2 years ago. I didn't ever think I would buy new until I couldn't save much on the Traverse.

I have the original bill of sale in the Camaro that I bought used. I paid $6,000 less than original owner after one year and 5400 miles.

Simple law of supply and demand, more vehicles are going out of service than new ones being bought. The number of available used cars are down so the price is up. When new car sales get over 14m, used prices should come down.

I couldn't give my 2LT away on the private market. It may have been detrimental that it had a manual transmission and I can't offer easy financing.

I sure had some dreamers trying to buy it for an LS price, or trade their cars that were only worth half of what it was.

for my city, this is true.

i got my 1LT for about $2000 less than the original sticker price and they had the same car, but a used 2011 with 11k miles, for $500 MORE than i got my brand new 2012 for.

i have also seen used 2011 1LS's selling used for as high as 24k, just as high, if not, slightly higher than the 2012s can be had NEW.

When I got mine, it was cheaper to get an LS new vs a used one without a warranty.

The dealer actually called me and asked if I would consider selling my car to them and then I received a letter in mail with the same pitch. Looks like the used market is very hot right now.

You drive it off the lot and you will loose 10% from what I am seeing. Now that is not to say that some of these car lots will not buy them lower and then turn around and sell them for near new price. That just means they are screwing the seller in the process, something common with selling a car to a dealer or trading it in.

I got my 2010 2SS/RS transformers L99 used in 2011 with 14K. Paid 29XXX. Traded it in last month with 27K miles on it for just over 27K and they are listing it for 29XXX.

Bought a 42K leftover new 2011 Mopar 11 charger for 34K
