Opinions on door speakers
So I went to my local install shop today to get a price on having some door speakers installed. Here is what was quoted to me:
For Arc Audio XDi 6.2 speakers $199 for the pair Plus $100 for install http://store.arcaudio.com/products/p...872.0.0.0?pp=8& For Alpine SPR-60C speakers $249 for the pair plus $100 for install http://www.amazon.com/Alpine-SPR-60C.../ref=pd_cp_e_1 He tried to push me really hard towards the Arc Audio, but I have never heard of the brand before. Is this priceing good? I can't really find any reviews on the Arcs. The Alpines are definately overpriced since I can get them for $158 from Amazon. I expect them to be more than Amazon but not $100 more. Which of these 2 would you go with or can you recomend a different brand? I am also going to have them replace my rear 3.5" speakers in a month or so since they said they would do the custom work to put in 6.5" speakers there for me. They quoted me $75 per hour for the custom work. Is that a good price? Basically I only have 1 other shop in town and I am going to talk to them tomorrow. |

I haven't heard a lot about Arc Audio, but it's usually favorable. I don't know if I'd pay that much for them, unless they offer to let you hear them, in your car, first. Replacing the front door speakers can be done in less than 30 minutes, so they should be able to stop before they put the panels back in so you can hear them. Good luck man.

Arc makes great Amps, but I'm not sure about their speakers. They might be a brand over of someone else's.
I've had really good experience with the Focal Poly's (in my wife's car) and absolutely love my Hybrid Audio Technology speakers (running off an Arc 900.6 amp) in my SS. HAT has a lower line called Mirus that sounds a lot better then other speakers in the $400-500 range. Here's a link so you can check them out. http://store.12velectronics.com/miru...l-speaker-set/ If you get on DIYMA.com you may be able to find a better deal. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well I went to the second shop today and let me tell you I will not be buying from them. The sales guy was a total idiot. I went in and asked him for a quote on door speakers and ended up getting a lecture because I did my factory amp and sub (I have a vert) replacement myself. He basically preached to me about the "evils" of buying online.
I just looked around and said now I see why you have no cars in you garage and no customers in your store and walked away. Tomorrow I am going to call the first shop and try to get them to deal on the Alpine speakers. I did do some research on Arc and found out that they actually make speakers and amps for Harleys and are one of the best, but I just feal better with the Alpines since I can find a lot more reviews and such on them. |

Best advice I can give you is to do hours and hours of research by yourself... Read plenty of forums (not just Camaro5...), read every review on Amazon, Froogle, Crutchfield, etc. on the components youre considering. I spent months planning everything before I bit the bullet, and I eventually came to Focal speakers, JL subs, and Arc amplifiers. To me, clarity and sound quality was the goal of my system, so the Focal and sealed enclosure JLs provide that. I could have gone even further with a good sound processor and higher quality amplifiers, but the sound difference wasnt worth the price.
One tip that is definitely universal though... sound deadening makes a very substantial difference in sound quality. Worth every penny and drop of sweat. |

I just put in 2 12" Arc subs and 2 Arc amps. My buddy has a shop and he said they are really top notch. I went with the Arc black series for the subs. I have Focal speakers in the rear and in the doors. I have a pioneer system with the Scochse kit. Bottom line is that I highly reccomend Arc products...

I can't say that I've heard the Arc speakers to give you an honest opinion there. I do like the Infinity Kappa speakers that DarkRider suggested. Great speaker without spending a ton.
Focal is what I personally use, and love them. We have a killer closeout on the Polyglass 165 V30 speakers right now. We can't advertise them at the closeout price online, but are able to offer in on the phone. http://www.crutchfield.com/I-rCHVc11...s-165-V30.html Hope this helps! There are a lot of great speakers on the market. It always helps when you are able to listen to speakers locally first to see what you do and don't like. |

Arc Audio is very nice. I would have went with the Arc 6.2 or Arc Black 6.2 but for the money the XDi series is nice.
We sell alot of Arc audio amps and speakers in our packages to customers. The Arc 10 and 12 subs are a great choice to run in the boxes. |
