The problem with red top Optima batteries is once they fully get drained, they never work as good and will fail soon after. Charging those batteries when they're drained below a certain point are a real pain since you have to set a separate battery up on a charger and then hook the optima battery up to the 1st battery... you can't hook the optima straight up to the trickle charger.

With the battery in the trunk and away from the engine heat I hope I will go 5 years on the Camaro. Just replaced my Silverado Duramax/Allison batteries with Interstate Megatron. Heat really beats up on batteries and causes premature failure. My 2 Megatrons cost $332.00.

I know alot of people say the opposite, but I have alway's had good luck with the ACDelco batteries. For example, I bought a Silverado in August of 1999. I replaced the original battery in September of 2006, with over 111,000K miles. The battery was still good, I just replaced it for peace of mind. I replaced it with a good long life, expensive ACDelco. Original equipment battery. I still have that same battery in the truck now. 6 years later with 198,000k miles on the truck. I am thinking about replacing it before winter. Just for peace of mind again. I am hoping the Camaro's battery will give me at least 5 years. Maybe more. Then I will replace it with ACDelco original equipment.
