Gas Cap

I was curious. How many of you, when getting gas, hang your gas cap on the hook on the gas door and how many just let it hang down against the car.

I hang mine on the hook.

Don't have a Camaro (yet!) but I hang it on the cap in both the Tahoe and the Benz.

Think this has been covered, and I think I responded, but why is that Ford, i.e., Mustang doesn't need a gas cap but Camaros do? If it can be done w/o, I am all for it.

I read somewhere that mustangs that have no gas cap drip gas on some parts of the car (can't remember maybe mudflaps etc) and damaged the part overtime.

I don't mind having to twist a cap on and off to prevent gas spilling on parts and damaging them.

Agreed, it would be nice if they had they had that feature in the camaro. It's a shame there isn't anyway to retrofit it. They should have at least gave us a holder for the cap.

I just let it hang. If they had actually made a clip that would hold the cap I would use it. With the stock setup, the wind blow the cap out, it won't stay put. Over 3 years and 54K miles and the cap has nevver left any trace that is had been in contact with the paint. Nada!

I cut the stupid thing off, replaced it with gm's locking gas cap and put it on top of the pump when I'm getting gas.

How can a one ounce plastic cap scratch ?
You would have to try real hard to damage your paint with this cap imo.
3 years and I've never used that hook once.
