I've read lots of thread about problems with Richmond gears breaking. I'd stick with LPE (AAM). They make the OEM gears.

5th Gen. Mainly I'm going by what I've read on the forum, but the shop that installed my gears also did not recommend Richmond.

Again....rumored on this forum but I saw where someone posted that Richmond even says their 4.11 are for street use only. Seems they won't warranty them if you break them at the track. Probably because it's happened too many times.

I have 3.45 gears from a m6 in my a6 (L99). I get 18 to 19 in the city and 20 to 21 on the highway.

The 3.73 has been the gear of choice for the Automatic Customers. I do recommend getting the full install kit and changing everything. The bottom Pinion Race can be a little tough getting out but it can be done. I usually set the rotational torque to about 20-25 inch lbs. The backlash is usually stamped on the ring gear. I have good luck setting it up around .006. Just my .02 cents.

A 3.45 is optimum for a PD blowe while it's not enough gear for a centri. Obviously you can run any blower with any gear. I'm just speaking about the optimum performance aspect. You'll need a gd A6 tuner if you jump to a 3.73 or higher gear. The cars gonna shift mega quick.
This is good to know! I was going to jump up to the 1LE differential with the 3.91, since my stock diff is making all kinds of noises. I figured best bang for the buck. But with the EForce Supercharger, I guess I should stick with the 3.45 gears, have them rebuild my current diff, and call it day! Glad you chimed in!
