Threaded Holes in Strut Towers?

I was noodling around under the hood and noticed that I have open threaded holes in the strut towers. I did a little searching and want to know if these are for bracing for the convertibles. I have a coupe.

Are aftermarket strut tower braces available that take advantage of these threaded holes? I saw a few that required drilling for installation.

I just put the GM vert strut tower bar in my '12 coupe. It bolts right in the '12.

According to GMPartsDirct.com,

"This strut tower brace will fit 2011+ coupe Camaros with the strut towers pre-drilled and threaded. Modification is required for the brace to fit the 2010 Camaro. "

Just wondering anyone have any information about the modification on 2010 V6 Camaro? Thanks!

The threaded inserts into the 12 strut tower are there to take the factory strut tower brace. It's a really simple install, and the parts are readily available from your local dealer!

For the 2010 it's a different story. The older cars have a different shape at the top of the strut tower which prevent the OEM brace from being installed without drilling and using spacers. There are companies who manufacture aftermarket strut tower braces, including us at one point. Unfortunately because our brace would work for only 1 model year we decided to discontinue the product, although it worked well as a secondary modification!

Thanks for your info. Really like the look of the OEM brace. Anyone did install one on a 2010?
