Yep, referring to xm signal decoded by the BA system, some xm channels like hip-hop nation, sound very clear, crisp/sharp. Then I switch back to Octane and it sounds muddy/dull and muffled, no headroom or range in the music. I have satellite radio on Dishnetwork at home and have been meaning to see if it does the samething between channels. I bought the lifetime subscription for the car. I was told if I sold the car I would loose the lifetime subscription since it is addressed to the BA system in the car. I need to try the center channel delete. I'm disappointed with the sound quality of the BA system.

I didn't want to cut any wires so I just took a zip tie and I attached the connector to the speaker. I did this to make sure the connector wouldn't make any rattling noises had I just let it drop in the dash.

Actually, that's a very good quality speaker for an OEM.

It's there for imaging and sound stage. Would be nice to have some control over it instead of having to resort to removal, but if it sounds better overall for you then sweet!

Yeah.. why is that? I'm very happy with my BA system (vert w/sub) but not with XM.. what with the frequent drops in signal and the lack of consistancy in sound quality across the channels.. why would anyone pay for that. I got a free year of xm.. but unless something changes when my year is up.. I don't think I would pay a dollar a year for XM.

Yeah, I doubt I'll be renewing either when my free year is up. For this much $$, the music should be CD quality.

when I bough my lifetime sub in 2005 for my silverado with the bose system I was told I could transfer it three times before I had to repay for it. I don't have the lifetime on my car because of the huge price increase between then and now.

Just did this to my car and I'm very impressed. Can finally put the volume up to 35 and only have the bass at 2 and it still sounds great. Definitely recommend going through the dash. Takes about 5 minutes. After I got the cover off, I left the speaker plugged in, played a song with the volume at 28. Then I unplugged the speaker, put the volume back to 28 and played the same song. Definitely a difference and a quick one that improves the sound.

Just did this and great difference. I like to hear the 2 channels and now it sounds great. Like others have said it brings the bass out more and a lot clearer sound.

It's worth a shot. If you don't like it, it's real easy to switch back. I've left my center disconnected since I first tried this.

It is a lot clearer. I have to say the BA 9 speaker system was a huge disappointment, especially after paying extra for it. The center speaker was all mid-range muddle. Has anyone tried replacing it with a better speaker? Are the front speakers the weak point of this system, or does it come from the amp or head unit? I would like to swap out the speakers but wouldn't, if the amp and head are just throwing bad sound. My 10" sub was the biggest improvement. One single 10"....can't live without it now.

So I popped my trunk , pulled the carpet from the left side . I see 2 different yellow wires, you can notice it in the picture. Do I cut both or just 1 ?

No need to cut wires. Just pop the speaker out and unplug. It took me 5 minutes. See the post further up. Very easy to go back again.

Wow! I didn't expect that much of a difference. I've always been into Audiophile systems but by taking out that center channel, I was able to crank it to 45 Max. It was so crystal clear...sounded Awesome. Now I can't wait to get those harness adapters for my V12 amp that's just sitting around and then hook up my sub after that. Ahhh! it's nice to be inspired again! Many Thanks to those who Trail-blaze these things for us!!!

Just Curios but has anyone tried making the Center speaker one channel (Lets say left) and both doors right channel for that stereo effect.

I adjusted the fade a little bit so that the front speakers aren't so powerful, and I lowered the midrange to about -8 (or was it -6? I don't remember). Anyway, now the center speaker is barely noticeable. The audio sounds MUCH better. I actually love the audio now. I recommend that people give this a try, before actually disconnecting it.

Also, I do have a 2012, and the center speaker on the 2012 is already not as loud as the ones in the 2010 or 2011, so that might be why I was able to basically eliminate it by just adjusting some settings. Those of you without a 2012, you may actually have to disconnect it in order for the audio to sound good...

I've heard the weak link in the system is the factory amp. I just got the FARK harness from Subthump and picked up a JL audio xd400/4. Will be installing that tonight.

Seems like I read somewhere on here or Steve @Subthump says in one of his videos the fark harness drops the center speaker. If not I'll be unplugging mine too. Will look at the harness tonight.

another use for the spot

I took my speaker out, and placed my Valentine 1 radar detector in the hole. I then connected the radar detector to the HUD/radio via the dashtronix. Now I don't have to worry about someone smashing my window for the radar detector, and I don't have to worry with removing/hiding it. The radar information display within the HUD is awesome.

I'm sure that many will say that the radar reception will be sacrificed, but I have not seen that to be the case. Granted, I do give up any laser detection - but I would never trust the detector to provide any help against laser anyway.

ICorrect, if you use our fark, the center speaker is dropped so no need to pop the grille and unplug it.

Wow.. I cant believe all the people not liking the center channel. Most must not understand its purpose in the soundstage. I took 1st in SQi @ Iasca world finals last year with an upgraded center channel and front sub. Is it something to do with the BA amplifier making the sound muddy?

If I understand all that I have read about it, I believe the BA system sends the right and left signals to the dash speaker. It's not truly a center channel in that case. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I understand... And BTW, "muddy" is exactly the word that comes to my mind. Overall I'm not disgusted by the system, but I'll try the speaker disconnect at some point to see what it sounds like.
